Hi, I have been experiencing a lot of bsods after upgrading a few bits of hardware; my GPU, an addition of 32gb of RAM on top of the 16 that was already there, an nvme drive, and a 1000w psu.

I've seen errors like: IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL and DPC_WATCHDOG_VIOLATION for the most part.

From what I've read its usually a driver issue, but I've tried DDU multiple time, I've reinstalled windows entirely, and have tried updated driver with device manager.

I also thought it was a virus, so I've done multiple scans to no avail.

I also stopped any overclocking.

I check temps, and they max out cpu: ~75 and GPU also ~75 with idles around 45

my system is as follows:

ASUS Prime X470-PRO
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X
2x 16 GB 3200mhz RAM + 2x 8 GB 3200mhz RAM ( the matching sets are in every other slot)
RTX 3070
samsung 980 pro nvme ssd
4 other ssd
intel wifi 6 ax200 wifi adaptor

Please let me know any other useful info I could provide.

Cheers

i think that one is GPU drivers, or at least, it involved them.
try running DDU in safe mode and reinstall GPU drivers -
Thanks again for looking at these for me, I've DDU'd and installed latest driver.

You getting DPC Watchdog Violations, one thing I noticed last week is they seem to follow Realtek LAN drivers around

I've ordered a new pcie wifi/bluetooth device, the one I have is made by a company called Ubit and it seems a bit dodgy, they don't have a website etc. Maybe thats why im getting so many realtek issues?

I am so used to X570 boards having intel Wifi that I assumed it was on-board - I see it isn't

So you use WIFI? Realtek drivers shouldn't play any role in it if you do

the intel updater might help, the intel drivers themselves aren't that old.

6 years ago when I started looking at BSOD reports I thought IRQ errors were easy. Now I don't have the same opinion.

I would follow the precautions here and run Driver Verifier and see what it thinks - https://forums.tomshardware.com/threads/driver-verifier-instructions.3686888/
I only suggest those as its not showing a driver so that will make it. If there is a driver at fault.

Its job is to test drivers. so you likely to get a BSOD. That is aim. Show me resulting dumps.

double-checked your ram was tested by Crucial, finds it on their page. https://www.crucial.com/memory/ddr4/bl16g32c16u4b/ct16822311

Did I suggest these as you have a lack of AMD drivers on there - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570 (you don't want raid or Stormi)

Wonder if its a coincidence the person asked question that this answer is for happens to have your motherboard
Try using Microsoft Install/Uninstall APP and uninstall all of the AMD Chipset drivers that are listed plus deleting the AMD installation folder at C:\AMD. Now see if the Chipset installs correctly.

If not then try installing the Chipset using the same Microsoft App.

Also make sure all of Windows 11 updates are current via Windows Updates.

If that fails you can try AMD explanation for error 1603 and use their tips even though it is really made for the Graphics driver: https://www.amd.com/en/support/kb/faq/gpu-kb1603

install/uninstall app = Settings/apps/installed apps

it looks better. As you only had 2 before. As for if it helps, only time will tell.

if you BSOD again, try running driver verifier

do you use Afterburner as its drivers are old, not sure if they have newer drivers yet
Jun 18 2020RTCore64.sys!!! Overclocking Software - RivaTuner - MSI Afterburner http://www.msi.com/ or EVGA Precision X http://www.evga.com/

As apart from it your oldest drivers are 2 VPN drivers. Everything else from this year I expect now...

I'm currently running the verifier, its not blue screened yet. How long does it normally take?

So have you reinstalled windows on the new motherboard?
Yep, got a new motherboard and that seemed to solve the issue. It says its "Ryzen 3000" compatible so maybe the old one (even though it was am4) was too old for the cpu. Weirdly, I only started experiencing the problem after upgrading the GPU and PSU, not quite sure what happened. All I do know is that TPM wasnt working on it for some reason.

its more the drivers for old motherboard are still on the ssd. So a clean install might fix some of the errors. Its worth a try before we look at hardware again.

I should have noticed before, I was too busy looking at drivers.

so i need to look at hardware I guess.
DV found no errors before, so its not going to after a clean install... and if it did, I would question how.
errors surviving clean installs are normally hardware

can't believe I asked about clean install 10 days ago and was too stuck looking at drivers.
So you had a DPC watchdog at start and we back there again. Clean install at least means no left over drivers.

ASUS Prime X470-PRO – now had X570 A Pro with newest bios
AMD Ryzen 5 3600X – cooler maybe too tight once?
2x 16 GB 3200mhz RAM + 2x 8 GB 3200mhz RAM ( the matching sets are in every other slot) - Currently only using 2 x 32gb set only – passes memtest
RTX 3070
samsung 980 pro nvme ssd
4 other ssd
intel wifi 6 ax200 wifi adaptor - still waiting on new one?

do you still have all the other ssd in PC?

I didn't mean to hit enter - will edit this

OK, thats a pain, is there a way of narrowing down what hardware is the problem?

I cancelled the order for the wifi adaptor, I will disconnect it for a while and see if that helps

I am still looking through thread again to see what I suggested.

Have I suggested Prime 95 yet? Checks ram, CPU & power supply - helps to run overnight
https://www.guru3d.com/files-details/prime95-download.html
Prime 95 Instructions - https://appuals.com/how-to-run-a-cpu-stress-test-using-prime95/
wonder if its rounding, guess Prime will tell me.

only 1 drive attached still? Try running Magician on drive and if it lets you, run diagnostics - https://semiconductor.samsung.com/consumer-storage/support/tools/

what PSU?

dpc = Deferred Procedure Call. An interrupt occurred on the CPU and an expected process didn't start fast enough. That is how I interpret it anyway.
DPC_QUEUE_EXECUTION_TIMEOUT_EXCEEDED
Interrupts are normal, CPU contantly interrupted to allow more important processes to run, and then after its done, the Deferred Procedure Call starts the process that had been interrupted again... clearly it didn't work.

remember this:
You did, but every time I run the installer it only installs: ryzen powerplan, pci device driver, gpio driver and smbus driver.
Where did you get chipset drivers you installed this time? Because you have less this time - all installed drivers:
Mar 11 2020amdgpio2.sysAMD GPIO Controller Driver from Advanced Micro Devices http://support.amd.com/
Oct 04 2021rtcx21x64.sys
Jun 01 2022AMDPCIDev.sysAdvanced Micro Devices PCI Device driver
Jun 24 2022nvhda64v.sysNvidia HDMI Audio Device http://www.nvidia.com/
Aug 11 2022ibtusb.sysIntel(R) Wireless Bluetooth(R) Filter driver (Intel Corporation)
Aug 15 2022Netwtw10.sysIntel Wi-Fi driver
Sep 13 2022nvlddmkm.sysNvidia Graphics Card driver http://www.nvidia.com/
So 2 AMD drivers, I would expect more if you used the link I gave - https://www.amd.com/en/support/chipsets/amd-socket-am4/x570

it seems odd it won't let you install more.
