Multiplier with 700 Duron

I have connected the L1 bridges with a pencil and I´m able to raise the multiplier to 7,5 but when I raise it to 8 or higher it runs only with the multiplier 7 or 7,5. I have an abit kt7 mother board. My memory is old, could that be the problem?

Maybe not all of the bridges are properly closed.
My TBird is only overclockable when I DO NOT CONNECT the fourth L1-bridge.

I don´t think your memory has anything to do with your problem at the beginning of the boot sequence.

How did you find out that the 4th L1 should not be connected?

Is this something new with TBs?

Have the same problem with my duron 800 (look thread oc'in a duron 800 on an asus a7v).
Am able to go to 892mhz (105x8.5),but the minute i raise my multiplier to 9 it doesn't boot anymore.

I'm interested in Fez's reply here too. Maybe I shouldn't complain (being 'stuck' at a sweet spot - 9*107=963MHz), but the multiplier tends to not like 9.5, 10.5, 'prefering' 9X and 10X. It has come up at 9.5 and acted ok.
Being a #2 pencil kind of guy, I'm thinking that maybe one of the switches isn't solid. ???
It's bothersome - just shy of losing sleep - because I question the core voltage. Is it stable? I wonder. ...

I have an A7V with a Duron 600 @950. I have taken it to 1GHz but it randomly kicks me out of UT. Anyway. My friend has an A7V with almost all the same components (especially ram, Crucial) He has a Duron 700 and can't get over 850. Nothing works including increasing the voltage.
Now here is the strange part, his 700 goes up to 1GHz on my motherboard with not problems. We have the same revision and the same bios version with all the same settings.
The only real difference between our computers is that I have an Enermax 430W Powersupply and he has an Antec 300W. Both are on AMDs list up to 1GHz.
Can anyone explain this?

wierd stuff going on in crackdaddyland.. I have an a7v with a duron 700. For the past 3 months, I've been trying like hell to get this thing over 900 (it would go to 950, but wasn't stable)I tried everything I knew of without results... used jumpers for all settings, erased the pencil markings, and used silver pen instead... no luck. I was using an alpha6035 heatsink (which I'm told kicks much ass, and it took my old celery 400 on a happy trip to 680mhz land)and it wouldn't go. then 2 days ago I found my big round savior, Thermaltake Super Orb. I actually bought it cuz it looks cool, but guess what? my duron 700 is now running stable at 1050mhz. Not one crash. Ran the stability test for a while (about 4 hours), but I got tired of waiting to use my "new" computer, so I killed it and went on to doing the only thing computers were made for... playing games. so far I've played ut for about 6 hours straight with no problems, and q3 for about an hour (I suck at that game, and everyone makes sure I know it hehe) anyway... moral of the story.. super orb kicks ass!
