Multiplier wont go higher than 39 on a unlocked processor.

Hi guys, i have this computer:

i7 3770K
GTX 670 Power Edition
8GB 2x4 1333
P67A-UD4-B3

I just upgraded from an i5 2400 to i7 3770K and i was ready to overclock my new unlocked processor, but for some reason, my multiplier os locked at 39X even tho im using a unlocked processor.

Pretty sure you need a z67 board to oc it

Did you reset your BIOS after installing the CPU, maybe it's holding on the remnants of the old CPU.

also, make sure you have the latest BIOS version for that motherboard.

About the mobo, P67 chipsets should be able to overclock my cpu aswell.
I didn't reset the bios because it recognized my cpu right away.
I've already got the latest bios 🙁

google your problem. i see people complaining about a multiplier limit, when using your board (originally designed for sandy bridge) with an ivy bridge CPU.

yes the board will take your cpu, but apparently has problems when trying to raise the multiplier when using an ivy bridge cpu.

whats the bios revision you are using?

you cant overclock with the F2 bios you need the F3 or newer bios to overclock with.

Plus, even if you set it to 39X once you check CPU-Z it is locked at 3500mhz.

im sure you could find someone with a 2600k that would be willing to trade with you.

or get a z77 board, whatever you think is easier.
