My acer lsptop wont turn on with new hdd

Got a acer laptop,turns on fine.but didn't have a ide hdd,so I bought one,now I plugged in new ide hdd it won't turn on unless I unplug the hdd.any answers?

What model number is your Acer? Go into BIOS and see what the Boot Order or Sequence has set as the first device from which to boot.
