Hi,

My ATI Radeon HD 4870 X2 flickers while playing a game on Windows 8, also this happened when I was on Windows 7.

I don't know what is the problem, and I have a fresh install of Windows 8.

Thank you

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but your card is most likely pooched. I currently run 2 XFX Radeon 4870 1GB in Crossfire and I have no issues with anything whatsoever. Well, the heat is annoying but with my twin Powercolor Radeon HD 7870 2GB on the way, that will be a problem of the past. My 4870s have been rock-solid for the 5 years I've owned them and they still are. I'm sorry but it looks like your 4870 has reached its end-of-life. If you have an XFX card, it's under lifetime warranty so that should help you out. My Powercolors only have a 2-year warranty but let's face it, if they don't die in the first 2 years, they'll last a LONG time. Even if they don't, I'll still have my 4870s safely stored away for a rainy day if anything happens. NCIX currently has an unbelievable deal on the HD 7870 ($140 after rebate) that undercuts even the cheapest HIS HD 7850 that I found on newegg. Good luck to you! 😀

I've figured it out

- It's the card temprature

How did I figure that

- When I wanted to install windows 8, whenever the PC was doing much processing "high cpu fan sound", the screen gives me "no signal found" but the PC is still working, so in order to setup the windows, I've opened the door of the case and put a fan in front of vga card and so on to cool the temp. down

- I've tested this also on PES 2014, when the fan was there, there was only that lag in the menus of the game and was not present in the game. When there was NO fan, there were those lags and inside the game not only the game menus.

So, now we have 3 plans

1- Buy Liquid Cooling Device
2- Blow off the card of the dust
3- The card is dead !!

So what is your suggestion now ?
