My cd drive isnt working but pc said device is working properly

Try uninstalling the driver and restarting your computer. Windows should attempt to reinstall the driver for it.
If that doesn't work, are you able to boot from it from the BIOS? Put your Windows disc in and try booting from it. Does it work?

Try that and we'll go from there.
 
Well I have the same problem. I uninstalled the drive and got nothing. I have Intel Rapid Storage Tech, I think it has something to do with it. I think it's because in running in ACHI mode and not Compatibility mode. But I got it to work last time, when installing a game. Funny thing is, it'll play DVDs fine. I think it's just a crappy drive out dated.
