My components are hotter since BIOS update?

Check my sig to see my build and specs.

Lately I've seen a temperature increase in different components, such as CPU, GPU, and chipset.
Here's a chart of the temperature increase in idle/light usage, taken from AI Suite 3:
- CPU: 31C -> 39C
- GPU: 45C -> 55C, sometimes 60C+
- PCH: 36C -> 46C
- VRM: 29-32C -> 40C and above

During heavier load:
- CPU: 39C -> 45C
- GPU: 65C -> 68C or around that

It's not a dramatic increase, except on the GPU at idle. However I don't like that it's suddenly higher, especially with a GPU that is at 60C at idle, or a CPU that gets hotter as I'm not done with my overclocking settings yet.

Some may say that my CPU is unrealistically cooled, but I've checked and the temperature is measured correctly, it's probably just measuring it at another area than the typical CPU scanning softwares, giving it a lower temperature.

Now, I've made sure all my fans are running like before, and I've made sure there's no excessive dust inside (barely any, as my computer is quite new).

What's interesting is that this has pretty much been the case since I upgraded my BIOS to the 2101 version, from the 1901 version. Perhaps some settings have been altered, and I need to change it back?
Where can I do this?

You can roll back the bios if you made a back up. But your temps are a bit odd. But seeing as your VRMs are hotter, I'd say that there's more voltage going to everything. And the strix cards (I have a 970 strix) will idle around 55-60 cause the fans don't turn on till about 61c. Finish up your oc and then update. Also, I don't know how the thermals are read, but the bios update may have changed how software determines how hot a component is.

I don't think the BIOS itself is wrong, but there may be other power settings like you mentioned. Honestly, I had only around 45C while idle on the 970 STRIX card (I too have one).
At the moment I have 4.2 GHz OC, and I won't overclock the rest with overvoltaging until next week sometime, so I can't finish the clocking and get back to you 😛 anyway, I have the same OC settings as before the BIOS update.

On another forum (where I suddenly got no answers anymore by some reason), people mentioned that my voltage control may have gone from "standard mode" to "auto mode" in BIOS or something, but I'm currently a big ?? as they didn't respond anymore... any idea what they mean? Someone also mentioned Optimized Defaults...

Note that I'm fairly new to navigating in BIOS

They probably meant something along the lines of the bios upping the voltage based on the core clock if the voltage isnt set to manual only. For example, I have a 4.6ghz oc on my cpu with 1.3v. if i had left the voltage on auto the bios would've shot it up to 1.4v. The option ot control voltage should be in the same section where you can OC the cpu.

While that may affect the heat on the CPU, that shouldn't affect the VRM, PCH and GPU, specially not the GPU since it's basically its own computer controlling itself - if it was just applying to the voltage curve to the CPU clocking.

Seriously, currently playing some games, and my VRM is at 50C, my PCH at 55C, and my CPU at 49C. The GPU us at what I mentioned before at load, but this particular game isn't heavy on the graphics in that manner.
So yeah, there's some obvious difference compared to before, I gotta find those settings in Asus BIOS and fix them if that's the issue...
