My computer boots up and after I log in screen goes black sometimes it comes back at the bottom it says the video driver has recovered. I wen into safe made setup for a clean boot. Rebooted installed latest drivers for the video card and it did it again black screen. So I thought maybe it was a problem with windows. I installed Ubuntu setup for dual booting. Ubuntu worked fine for a few minutes then the same problem screen goes black. So I opened up the case pulled the card and remounted it but still having the same problem. Any ideas? Is my card fried?

What type of hardware do you have? Please post the brands and model numbers. Could be video card, power supply, memory.... Did you use driver sweeper or another tool to do a clean uninstall. What drivers are you using (ya need the other info again lol).

Here is the link to Driver Sweeper (http://www.guru3d.com/content_page/guru3d_driver_sweeper.html). Before you use it go to the NVidia page and download a fresh copy of the latest drivers for your card. Use the uninstall program for the drivers then run sweeper to remove left over files. Reboot and install the new drivers. Check your system for dirty fans, dirty video card fan, fans that are not working and clean any filters you have. if you tried to OC the video card set all values to factory default. Overheating can cause the issue. Did this just start happening? Did anything change just before it started?

No changes have been made. I have already cleaned it out. I am going to buy a new card this weekend I will post the end result

Check that the video plug is seated correctly, also change the port it's plugged into as a test. (If the card has 2 DVI ports)
Also check that the card is fully seated, remove and clean the gold connectors. Sometimes when setting the "lock screw" on the back wall of the case, it will lift the card slightly. Happened to me, and caused that same issue, cleaned reseated and checked that not being tilted when locking, also when plugging in the vid cable it could cause the card to move.

Also if a newer series of cards, it requires both plugs to be installed, either the 8 pin or 2 six pin plugs. They must be fully seated.

Also insure that you have the card in the top 16X slot if only one card. and check that any "Onboard" video is disabled. (in bios) although plugging in a card should disable the onboard unit.

Are there any "POST" beeps besides the single "all good" at start up? 3 beeps is a faulty or incorrectly installed Vid card. Some boards have LED's at the slots to indicate good or bad connection. [also check that the video card fan is actually spinning, do NOT blow it off to clean it, over spins the fan and could damage it.]
