My computer c screen is half black

All of a sudden my computer screen is 1/2 black with the "start" button showing in the black and the time, date and day in the black, what do I do to get the whole screen back. M

Make sure all your monitor connections are good. Check if your video card is going out, if you need drivers, or if your monitor is simply going out.

what software are you running/installing that is causing this problem?

you typically see this after a full screen application crashes and windows doesn't get the prompt to restart the desktop video output.
