My computer doesn't think any speakers are plugged in when they are.

If I run the troubleshoot I get this message "The peripheral does not appear to be plugged in. Check the connection. Proceed to next step to finish." I am positive everything is plugged in properly, even my headphones aren't recognized when they are plugged in.

Here is some info that I feel is relevant. My motherboard is ASUSTek Computer Inc. Model Z87-A. My graphics card is NVIDIA Geoforce GTX 760.

The interesting thing is wireless headphones work. Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

1.Open device manager
Locate your sound devices
Right click every one of them and update them

Might help.

2.Right click the volume icon at the bottom right of your screen

Select playback devices
Right click in that window and show disabled/disconnected devices.
Set one of them as default and see if it works now

Did you try plugging those headphones/speakers into another PC or device? If it doesn't work into another device or PC, the headphones went faulty or need specific drivers installed from the manufacturer's website

Or try a different sound port if you have any more

The headphones work fine, there are 2 ports for audio, neither works.

Have you double checked that your audio ports are connected properly to the motherboard? I've seen some connectors manage to work their way free if the case gets moved a lot. Have you ever been able to get an external audio device to work with this computer?
