for the past two days my computer, whenever i play or load up a game, randomly restarts from a black screen. My gpu and cpu run at a great temp, however, I suspect its either a faulty psu or my motherboard is overheating ?

I've tried updating drivers, and resetting my computer and clean installing windows.

Any ideas?

specs:

rog strix x570-e gaming
asus tuf 3080 Ti
ryzen 9 3900x
rm 1000w gold corsair PSU
4x 8 gb 3200 ram

So what have you done to alleviate that assumption/doubt?

What BIOS version are you on for your motherboard? As for your OS, if you're on Windows 10, what version(not edition) of the OS are you on? You might want to try and source a 850W donor PSU that's reliably built and branded from a friend or neighbor, then try it out on your platform to rule out your unit being the culprit. Use HWMonitor to monitor your temps and then go into BIOS after the reboot to also see your CPU temps, corroborate that with what you've seen on HWMonitor prior to the reboot.

Title of the games you're taxing the build with? Where did you source the games from?

as of now i ordered a replacement power supply in order to see if its a psu issue and ill try your method in order to re-check if its a cpu overheat. i have a kraken z73 so im able to monitor my temps while gaming and it stays within a good range.

My windows is windows 10 64 bit and its on the most current update.

im using games downloaded from steam such as for honor, warzone, dead by daylight, and non-steam games such as valorant and escape from tarkov.

ill check the temps in bios and compare it to HWmonitor and ill get back to you.

thanks again for the warm welcome.

EDIT:

ive just tested further and my temps for my computer are good; however, after installing a windows update that was out today, i loaded up a game to test and it seemed like my gpu crashed but it was still on. I restarted and got a blue screen and it rebooted fine.

after rebooting and playing for an hour no random restart or blue screen.
Could it have been a driver issue after all?

something is overheating you're right
but it's probably your cpu
you can monitor your temps and judge by yourself
if your psu is not old then it should n't be that
my psu isnt old but whenever i check my temps on my kraken z73 its always at a good range. my friend had random shutdowns and restarts when his psu was bricking and he had a new corsair rm750.

ill compare the temps in bios and ill let you know,
