Question My computer powers up, but there's no display

Hello!

I decided to upgrade my CPU and motherboard. Went ahead and ordered a ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E motherboard and an Intel Core i9 9900k CPU. I Changed the old motherboard and CPU for the new ones. When I finished the computer powers up, but will not show any display on my monitor. I've checked that cables are all the way in. On the motherboard there's a red light on the upper right side which is marked CPU. The manual says this means there might be something wrong in the CPU area. I can't get into BIOS, cause there is no display. Nothing I do seems to work. I am no professional by any means, but I have built and upgraded computers before with no issue like this.

I've checked if there are any bent pins on the CPU slot, it looks ok. I was very careful installing the CPU. The power cables are in (24-pin and 8-pin for CPU). CPU fan is plugged in and get power. The motherboard and CPU are brand new, there shouldn't anything wrong with them, right?

I've tried:
  • Booting with one, two and no RAM.
  • Reset CMOS.
  • DVI and HDMI cables for monitor.
  • Reinstalled CPU and CPU-fan.
  • Plugging monitor into motherboard, rather than GPU.
My setup:
Motherboard: ASUS ROG Strix Z390-E Gaming
CPU: Intel Core i9 9900k
CPU-fan: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: Gainward GTX 1070 Phoenix GLH
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 1000 G2, 1000w
RAM: 2x8GB Crucial DDR4 Ballistix 2400Hz

This is my first post here. Sorry if I did anything wrong.
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

Did you try plugging your hdmi into both the motherboard and graphics card to see if you had any issues? I recently upgraded up graphics card and had the same issue and I unplugged all parts and reinstalled them and it worked fine. Hope this helps

Hi, thanks for your comment. I've been plugging the hdmi into the GPU and I tried plugging the hdmi in the motherboard now. But it still won't show any display.

Anyway, I have an update. I found out that I have a flaw in my build. The RAM I have is not compatible with the motherboard, so I ordered new ones that are compatible. According to the list on ASUS's website. Still.. It was a red light on the CPU, so I don't know if new RAM will fix it. I'll post an update when I've tested the new RAM tonight.

Have you tried a new monitor. It may be a faulty monitor. For now, try see if you can project off another display. Also, if you do manage to project, try connecting your monitor while projecting if you ever unplug it, go into device manager and update drivers. Remember, monitor not projector if you use one or just simply connect your iPhone and use SplashTop.
