My cpu temp. Please help

Hello guys!
So I bought a new cpu cooler - Deepcool Gammaxx S40 with an Idea to overclock my old core 2 quad q6600 with low temps. I overclocked from 2.4 GHz to 3.0. But after changing intel stock cooler I get even higher temperature. Its about 50-60C idle and up to 85C when gaming (tested Crysis 2 and GTA IV). Even when I set default freq for Cpu it has higher temp than stock cooler. How is this even possible??? Ok, the stock has max 3200 RPM fan speed, the Deppcool has only 1600 RPM but it is tower cooler with 4 heatpipes. I checked - everything is mounted correctly and It had thermopaste preinstalled. Please help!!!

Try new thermal paste is all i can say. I never use preinstalled thermal paste just because you never know what your are getting

As I mentioned. The new cooler had already thermal paste installed on bottom of it.

If it came with a thick pad of white paste you might be better cleaning it off and applying your own better paste.

Ok Ill try, but does it really makes more heat if there is too much thermal paste ?

you want the thermal paste as thin as possible, its just supposed to smooth/fill out the join between the cpu and the cooler
