[SOLVED] My ctrl+c and ctrl+V seem to have stopped working. Anyone know how to rectify this?

Solution
thats even more odd. wonder what broke them

tried SFC/DISM scan?
right click start button
choose powershell (admin)
type SFC /scannow and press enter
once its completed, copy/paste this command into same window:
Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth
and press enter

SFC fixes system files, second command cleans image files, re run SFC if it failed to fix all files and restart PC

which version of win 10
right click start
choose run...
type winver and press enter
current version is 20H2

That seems odd, lets see if something blocking them

Try a clean boot and see if it changes anything - make sure to read instructions and make sure NOT to disable any microsoft services or windows won't load right - https://support.microsoft.com/en-au/help/929135/how-to-perform-a-clean-boot-in-windows

if clean boot fixes it, it shows its likely a startup program. You should, over a number of startups. restart the programs you stopped to isolate the one that is to blame.

I thought about that. I've tried it in safe mode and it still doesn't work.

The on-screen keyboard looks a bit different from one version of Windows to another. It can be resized by clicking and dragging its edges or corners. You use the keyboard almost like a mechanical keyboard, but you type characters by clicking them. If you need to enter a multi-key sequence (e.g., Ctrl + C to copy selected text to the clipboard), click the modifier key first (i.e., Ctrl) and then click the second one (i.e., C).

I was trying to see if the Ctrl key itself was the issue. Apparently it isn't. Obviously the C and V keys work and have been tested?

Since it doesn't work in safe mode, then that means the issue likely isn't software.

Since it doesn't work on another user account, that kinda confirms that the issue is not software.

That leads me to hardware. But, I've never heard of any hardware that would be blocking Copy/Paste keyboard shortcuts. It just doesn't make sense.

Please list the full hardware specs to see if we can find anyone else having the same issue with the same hardware.

I'm glad you have a work-around.

It's appreciated when you link to other forums when asking the same question in multiple forums. That way you don't have people suggesting the same thing. I noticed that both I and dalchina asked about the Ctrl key, and the C and V keys working. https://www.tenforums.com/general-support/177975-ctrl-c-ctrl-v-not-working.html

Try temporarily stopping the NahimicService to see if that works (be sure to disable the script while testing this). Reference: https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...properly/f2fea99c-208e-4d33-baf2-54bfe531ccb9
Really that shouldn't help, because you had the same issue in safe mode and in safe mode, such 3rd party services shouldn't be running. But, it's worth a shot.

why is nahimic involved? I thought that was sound? part of realtek drivers ( and since it happens in safe mode, it shouldn't be them (although I wonder, as realtek drivers are installed with win 10 as Microsoft drivers, so are they counted as 1st party by safe mode and run?) )

did you ever try another keyboard? Or (as I suggested) try keyboard on another PC and see if it same?
