my dvd drive

hello i hope someone might can help me i bought an acer
ferrari3000 series laptop in june two days ago my dvd
drive failed to show on my computer i did as the help
requested to do i uninstalled it and re added it but it
still did not work i am trying to find a driver that i can
download for this because the cd rom dosent work it is a
HL-DT-ST DVD-RW GWA-4040N it is mixed between hitachi and
LG but i get that it is part of the install of windows
XPthe driver verison comes up as 5.1.2535.0 they say there
is a problem on line 39 i would appericate if someone
could tell me what i can do to fix this problem because i
cannot redo the system because the drive is not working

Why don't you look for the Windows XP driver on the Acer website? Oh, and
one other thing, please use proper grammar and punctuation. Your post is
nearly impossible to read. Punctuation is your friend.

It should not need a special driver. However you might find a fix if you
check the Problems section here and download the fix posted there
