This will be my first PC build and I'd just like some advice/opinion before I purchase the parts.
I have a budget of roughly £500 and would mainly use the pc for school work as well as light/occasional gaming ( League of Legends & WoW ect ).
Upgradability is a must.

My current build:

CPU
Intel Core i5-4690 3.5GHz Quad-Core Processor
£177.92

Motherboard
Gigabyte GA-Z97P-D3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
£63.98

Memory
Kingston HyperX Fury Red 4GB (1 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory
£27.99

Storage
Sandisk Ultra II 240GB 2.5" Solid State Drive
£72.99

Case
NZXT S340 (White) ATX Mid Tower Case
£54.95

Power Supply
EVGA 500W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
£42.52

Total: £440.33
I plan on buying another 4gb of ram and a 1tb hdd when i have the funds.

However I still need a monitor so would appreciate and recommendations.

How'd I do? Is this a decent build? Is there anything I can downgrade without sacrificing performance?

Solution

I have a nice Asus VS228H-P. It's $109 USD. Could be cheaper over there, not sure, but it looks fine. It is 60hz though, but it gets the job done.

Thanks for the fast reply. What do you suggest I step it down too? I've had a look and I could buy the i5 4690 used from CEX for £130. Including this and 2 sticks of RAM the total would come too £412.73. Do you think it's worth the risk buying a used CPU? I know it's tight but the monitors included ( I could always buy this used )

Honestly, I don't like used computer components. Consoles, keyboards, mice...but if it goes INSIDE of my computer, I don't like it. That's just me. Getting a monitor is going to be stretch trying to fit it in 500. would suggest saving up a bit more to get a nice decent 21-inch monitor.
