Greetings.. not sure if I'm posting to the right place or whatever, but I'm having trouble with my system after upgrading the cpu from a Duron 1Ghz to an Athlon XP1800+. Basically, neither the bios or WinXP recognise the chip, claiming that it's an "unknown cpu" running at 1150MHz.
Haven't figured out how to fix this problem. The board is a fairly old one (that still supports up to 2400+), being an MSI K7T Turbo2. I really want to fix this and it's bugging the hell out of me. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

Regards,
David Harcourt

Maybe <A HREF="http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com" target="_new">Windows Update</A> will fix it.

Sounds like Error# ID-10-t.

LOL! I've had a few of those errors before, boy I can be an ID10t sometimes.

its gotta be that...cause the 1800 has an 11.5x multiplyer so...if it ran at 100mhz fsb you would get 1150mhz...instead of 1530mhz.

There is no smell better than fried silicon

It's yet another of the same error most do and ask too often here. I just wish people would read the manual or something.
Unless they did set it to 133MHZ and nothing happened.

Putting BSEL pins on the Athlon would have gone a LONG WAY towards it's adaptation by major OEMs too!
