Im trying to do everything I went on slim hippo and did slim drivers, installed all updates except internet explorer and bing bar, psu is Rosewill 750W 80 PLUS Platinum Certified Power Supply FORTRESS-750. Im trying to follow the steps but im trying to make sure I dont break my brand new pc over 5 games. If I need a professional to handle this who would you recommend?
You need to upgrade IE, whether you want to or not, or you will not get all the updates. IE updates include updates to the 'communications layer' for Windows that fixes, optimizes, improves what was shipped 'out of the box'. This update affects any and all programs trying to 'communicate' (Web browser, gaming etc.).
The PSU is excellent and should be more then enough. The steps outlined won't "break" the computer, your computer is 'broken' at this moment but Windows is never going to magically just report "this part is broken, replace it". It be like expecting your car to tell you exactly what the problems is, what part needs to be replaced, and how much it will cost; ain't going to happen now or for a very long time (and scared when my car starts to talk to me like that anyway! LOL).
The problem we have is, all the 'games' use 3D rendering (Web browsing, Word etc. use 2D) which would be indicative of either a hardware problem or software problem. IF FOLLOWED IN ORDER, these steps would walk you through exactly every bit of information, and testing, to figure what is the problem is caused by BEFORE we can figure out how to fix it. It isn't just the 'games don't work', that is like someone says 'my computer doesn't work', does that mean his mouse is unplugged? is he trying to use his computer during a power outage? is it he can't get on the Internet because he never bought Internet Service? MANY things can be the 'cause' before we can figure out the solution.
That said, if your really worried about 'breaking' then please STOP. Seek professional IT support. Going to Bestbuy isn't the solution, they are 'mass' quick fix solutions. Your best bet would be a Mom and Pop IT store for service. You will be looking at least at $150 to just figure out the problem, and depending on the solution (say your GPU is broke) can escalate from there. IF UNDER WARRENTY USE IT, get the service manual out and call the number, that is what you paid for.
