Do i update the bios? I have a 4090 with ASUS TUF Z590 and a 11900k CPU. It should all be gen 4 but its running at gen 3. I went into the bios and it also only goes up to gen 3 there too.

Version 0820Which BIOS version are you currently on for your motherboard?
My Intel stuff is up to date according to intel driver support but i will update the biosThen you have BIOS versions pending update, note the MEI drivers as well, and do them in tandem with your BIOS updates, taking note of the dates for each.
I updated the bios and its still gen 3 pcie on my gpu according to NVIDIA system information. Then you have BIOS versions pending update, note the MEI drivers as well, and do them in tandem with your BIOS updates, taking note of the dates for each.
You mean reset everything to default?Did you clear the CMOS after making sure your BIOS update was successful?
Advanced -> System Agent (SA) Configuration -> PCI Express ConfigurationYou mean reset everything to default?
oh yeah i tried that earlier, it only goes up to gen 3. Worked fine on my 3090. This 4090 is brand new, i got it days agoAdvanced -> System Agent (SA) Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration
Advanced -> PCH Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration.
The setting above it, something called pcie 16_1 allows me to go into gen 4 but not the Express Configuration, it maxes out at gen 3Advanced -> System Agent (SA) Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration
Advanced -> PCH Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration.
Maybe the pcie slot is broken? But i assume that if it was broken then it would not work at allAdvanced -> System Agent (SA) Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration
Advanced -> PCH Configuration -> PCI Express Configuration.
You should have the option to change it to 4.0Maybe the pcie slot is broken? But i assume that if it was broken then it would not work at all
If your gaming and not just running benchmarks this says no biggie.Maybe the pcie slot is broken? But i assume that if it was broken then it would not work at all
Has to be a bug, it only goes up to Gen 3. pcie 16_1 allows me to go into gen 4 but the Express Configuration is stuck at gen 3.You should have the option to change it to 4.0
