My IP keeps changing

Hey all,

I have been trying to get into this game called Guild Wars 2. Everytime I try to log in it says that I have been logged on with a different IP. I check on the internet to see what my IP is and it is the same as the one they have sent me. It is starting to freak me out and I dont really understand what is going on.

Is it safe to let the IP through to my Guild Wars 2 account and does it matter that it keeps changing

Your public IP will normally keep changing (not too often though) some ISP's do allow a static ip.

Have you shared your account info with anyone? There is a possibility that someone else is logging into the system as you and it is getting recorded.

Try changing your password for your account and see if the problem goes away.

My previous ISP account was assigning me a new IP every time I restarted the DSL modem. It's normal. I could have got a static IP address but my ISP charged an extra $4/month for this service.

As noted here, ISP policies regarding IP addresses can vary. In my case, I have been with the same ISP for 2+ years and my assigned IP address has never changed. Resetting (and even replacing my cable modem 3 times for various reasons) never changed the IP I was assigned.

Really a matter of how your ISP functions.

Yea it does but I check my Ip to see if it is me and it is I dont know what to is there anything I can change in my router settings?

Write down the IP addresses that it's telling you you are using and we can compare.

The router/switch assigns local IP addresses to the computers in your house. Most likely not related, however....

I live in England and you mean that some pc's in my house are connecting to my Guild Wars 2 account. If that is the case then that is fine but what I am concernd about is that I am allow acess to all these IPs that keep changing to somone else might get that IP and log onto my account.

If my IP keeps changing will other people get the old one I had ?

All PC's in your house are using the same IP address, so it shouldn't matter.

The question is, are you paying for DNS service that allows you to access United States web pages?

So a dynamic IP?? and if mine changes and if other people changes then could they get the Ip I had before.

Example:

say if my ip was 21.212.21.121 and the next week it changed to 82.822.822.8 then would the Ip I had the first time (the 21.212.21.121) go to someone else.

I am just concernd because i am allowing access to all these ips .

Your ISP only has a certsin range of addresses that they are authorized to use. Do you have a list of the various IP addresses being used with your account?

That's a US IP.

Invalid IP address (82.822.822.8)...


Go into CMD and type ipconfig /all
And paste the results

I think you are using some type of DNS service to get a US IP.
