I have a Lenovo Ideapad with Windows 8 and I'm away for the weekend. I connected to the WiFi and it worked fine last night, but now it says it can't connect and the other people with me can connect. I have the password correct so I can't figure out what's wrong. I tried rebooting it. It didn't work.

Solution
OR renew your IP address...

1. Open windows command prompt Start\ Run\cmd\ok

2. To release your Ip address ipconfig/release
Enter

3. To renew your IP address ipconfig/renew
Enter

Exit
Very easy to solve... right click WIFI ICON on lower right side of screen, click TROUBLESHOOT PROBLEMS...then just click CHECK IF THE PROBLEM HAVE SOLVE, (something like that kind of message)...Sometimes,the brain of the computer malfunction so just let the computer itself solved its problems.I've tried this on my PC i7 and laptop i3.everyday I'm using the wifi though sometimes it encounters errors.

I had a similar problem and this solved it. Apparently in my case, my connection to the particular network network was set to "automatically connect", however the network password had changed between the last time I connected and when I wanted to reconnect so I kept getting the "cannot connect to network message" as my laptop was still trying to use the old password. So, I clicked the wireless network icon, right clicked on the network I was trying to connect to, click on "properties" and went to the security tab where I changed the "network security key" to the new password for the network. On clicking OK, I was able to immediately connect to the network. Hope this helps.

thanks man !!!

I tried this with my computer because i am having the same problem. It says no operation can be done on ethernet 2 while it has its media disconnected. No operation... on wifi while it has its media disconnected. No operation ... local area connection* 3 while it has its media disconnected. No operation.... Bluetooth network connection while it has its media disconnected.

SO WHAT DO I DO?

Thank you so much for sharing. Tried everything suggested but only yours helped. Thank you.

This is a problem about the networking so you must check the network connection. Maybe there are many networks available so you choose your appropriate network. There is one more solution for you i.e. you can troubleshoot the problem after right click on the WiFi icon.

hey bro, i have the same problem, my sister laptop wont connect to a specific wifi connection, but it can connect to other wifi connections. i would like to try the renew the ip address that you said but im having doubts about it hahaha i mean it is not my laptop. so bro i have a question what will happen if i do renew the ip address? is it dangerous for the laptop? pls i need answers bro. thanks again

I went through this thread and tried everything, lots of great info by the way, but I had the same problem where jut my computer wouldn't connect to the internet even though other devices would. What finally finally worked was turning off Windows Defender for Windows 10. Boom, connected right away!

Hope this helps someone if none of the above does.

What I actually did was way simpler and it worked for me:
I uninstall the network driver form the device manager and afterwards I reboot the laptop where it installs the automatically. ( instead of reboot you can click also scan for hardware changes button on the device manager). If it sounds complicated there is a video on youtube how to solve this issue: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZ7d5RY5RCw
