so my crappy laptop's idle temps are in between 50 and 60 c. when listening to music and using chrome temps jump around in the high 70s c. my laptop has very little airflow so I'm guessing its that combined with dust and bad thermal paste. id rather not send in my laptop for repair but don't trust myself to fixed it. what should I do?

Unless the laptop is ancient, I doubt it needs a thermal paste change. If you need to dust it, you don't have to disassemble it, just shoot a gust of air through the intake. Or at worst, you just need to take off the bottom panel.

Also having it raised up an inch or so will do wonders for breathability.
