I'm currently using an older Samsung S19C300 LCD monitor because I simply cannot afford a new one plus a new desk to put it on. Until around December it was working just fine, it does have its time of use, but it has never shown any problems.

I live in the Southern Hemisphere, so December is when heat starts to pick up and temperatures increase. Around this time my screen began having issues turning on: I'd try to turn it on, it'd seem to be work for some 500ms, and the screen would go black, while the monitor was still on. It usually only took a few tries to make it work, between 3 and 20 attempts. However, these last few days it has gotten worse, today it literally took some 350 attempts before it actually turned on. What strikes me as odd, though, is that once it turns on and works, I can turn it on and off as much as I'd like, and it'll keep working properly, but if I turn it off (or turn the computer off) for a few hours I need to go through the whole process all over again.

I know it has nothing to do with the VGA cable nor the GPU, because even when said cable is not plugged in I can't even see the monitor's GUI, it still just turns on for a split second showing me a GUI message and going back to nothing. I've been theorizing this could have something to do with temperature and humidity, because I've noticed that in colder days the screen would seem to turn on with fewer attempts, sometimes at once, even.

Anyone has any idea of what is going on? Or should I just sell a kidney and buy everything new?

That indicates dead monitor.

Also, you don't have to fork out a fortune for new build. Just buy a new monitor. Those are quite cheap, starting at $70 USD,

Now, your location is different from USA, so, i can't give you exact one to go for in your county, but monitors there should also start at low prices.
I just decided to change my entire setup and basically get rid of 80% of my desk to free up all the space for a new screen, and I bought a ASUS VA24EHE for $130 USD on offer.
