So I've put together a build which I'll be getting soon...
IT'S REALLY BUDGET, and I probably won't be able to get anything better otherwise it'll get too expensive...

Attention: I changed part of the build! Please see below!

Here is the correct (new) build:

CPU: Intel Core i3-3220
RAM: G-Skill Ripjaws-X 4GB Kit
MoBo: ASUS P8H61-M-LX3-R2
Graphics: AMD Radeon HD 6670
Hard Drive: WD Blue Caviar SATA3 1TB
Case: Coolermaster Elite RC-372
PSU: Thermaltake OEM 500W
DVD Drive: SATA DVD-RW Lite-On
Extra Fans: Coolermaster 120mm System Case Fan x1

PLEASE EVALUATE! and let me know if there are any issues with this build!

Thanks,

Solution
i wouldnt get an i3, just...no

here is what would work well

motherboard:ASUS M5A78L-M LX PLUS AM3
cpu:amd fx6300
gpu:msi or other brand 7790
ram: kingston 4gb kit

see how that goes for your budget

if it is really budget, i would say dont get in i5, buy an amd something like a 8320 or even a 6300 and put more money towards a graphics card, yes the i5 is good for gaming, but in a comparison between your card and gpu combination vs an amd cpu and better card the amd combo would be a better solution, whats your country and your budget????

also would the money saved on not buying 2 case fans be able to go to a bit better case???? you only need a case to have an intake and exhaust fan, all dvd drives are the same, if the samsung is more expensive then say a LG or liteon just go for one of those, if you have a old cd drive then use that and put the money else where, also the ram, ram in essence is just ram, most are the same, so opt for cheaper ram over the ripjaws, most of the times your just paying for a plastic covering over the ram stick..... these are just some things i can point out from a quick look, there is a fine balance between cpu and gpu, dont get caught up in the hype of intel is better, yes it is but in your case, you are sacrificing so much money to it that your gpu is lacking thus leading to a disappointing end result!

Whoops!
Sorry there, before I had selected an 1155 pin mobo, then I forgot about changing it...

I was going to get an i3, but I posted that here and they told me getting an i5 would be better... and about the fans, why drop them? There's only one included with the case and they only cost me an extra $8.

Thank you for all the feedback!

First of all, I'd like to say, my dad is behind buying it and stuff, and he said he doesn't want to buy an AMD CPU - I am aware that I could save a heap of money in that.

With the fans, how I said, there's only one with the case and they only cost me $8 more.
The Samsung drive is the cheapest I can get...

With the feedback I'm getting, I think I might replace the i5 with an i3 and like you said, go for a better GPU...

Solution
just read your last reply, with a 2 core processor you and alot of games utilising more the 2 cores you will be lacking with a i3, nothing wrong with an amd 6300 and it is faster then an i3 and dont let the intel fan boys tell you otherwise an i3 is a stupid choice just do a search on the forum comparing the two and you will soon see the evidence to back this up

Hey,

Thanks for the advice, that would go quite well with my budget, but as I said earlier, I can't really get an AMD CPU.

Again, I'd like to say thanks... and also, I'm not gonna be using the computer for much more processor-hungry games than, say, Minecraft or Euro Truck Sim... but still, I haven't totally finalised yet!

np young dude, just trying to see your money go further, but good luck with your build, still post your country and budget as most people can offer cheaper places to buy things and see your dollar or what ever currency you use go further!

good luck!

Hello...

I put in an AMD CPU just to see, the AMD A8-5600K, and replaced the Mobo to an FM2 one, and with all the other parts the same... the AMD one is $17 cheaper than the i3 build, and I could be getting a quad-core instead of dual-core...so I'll have to see about it with my dad..

Also, I'm in Sydney, Australia, (and the place I'm getting it from is the cheapest in the city) and my budget is about $450-$480...

If all you're playing is minecraft and other similar games you'll be fine with what you have now. If you're trying to get into anything like Elder Scrolls or FarCry or something you'll be lacking. So with what you have in mind know your limits.

oh and +1 to this^, I love Intel dont get me wrong, I live close to the Arizona factory and know a few people there, but for the price Intel is WAAYY overpriced in comparison to AMD. Mayby 10%(negotiable) better for $140 more(4770k vs fx8350) . With steamroller coming out on the same socket, Id "hope" it crushes Haswell like predicted but we'll see.

Nope, ignore APUs.

FX6300 is a maybe, but given the i3 has HT, they both perform reasonably. You can OC on the FX, but the i3 is slightly better at stock for gaming, which usually has a fairly strong single-thread portion.

Tom's CPU hierarchy.

EDIT: Also, extra fans and 'REALLY BUDGET' probably shouldn't be near each other. All your parts are currently really low power, so are fine. I've got about that much heat dissipation in an HTPC with a single really (really really) slow 120mm fan and terrible airflow, and it's fine.

I don't have a preference for APUs, just the FX-6300 is $28 more expensive than the A8-5600K.

With the fans, maybe I'll change it to 'BUDGET' then? :) I'll get just one extra fan, maybe that'll be enough...

And if my dad says no still for the AMD, then the i3 will be the best I can get :|

HT is good (better that AMD's "HT") but an FX6300 will walk all over an I3 all day long. I have an fx4300 and its on par with my roommates I5. And yeah AMD APUs arent great but theyre ok, I had an a8 and it could play farcry 3 on medium alright. Not great but for what it is I was very impressed.

That's nice to know...I'll see how it goes, but for now this isn't exactly solved...

I'm assuming by "really budget" thats the best he could do which is why I suggested convincing his dad that AMD is NOT the devil despite what many think. My fx4300 is $10 less than that I3 and better plus AMD GPUs are much cheaper as well.

My budget as I stated above is about $450 - $480. But the parts I've put down for both Intel and AMD builds are the perfect fittings, for both value, performance and pricing. And the place I'm getting the parts is cheap compared to some other stores in my area.

This is just my personal observation, I have an AMD vs. Intel observation 30 feet apart from me and I guarantee an fx6300 will stomp an I3. As far as the ps4 and xbox one thing, regardless they went AMD considering they wanted a price/performance component and Intel apparently wasnt even part of it I guess.

Even though the FX-6300 is faster than the A8-5600K, it's still $28 more expensive... if that was something like $10 then maybe I'd get the FX-6300, but $28 is putting out of my budget...
