Ryzen 5 7600, msi ventus 3x 5080, msi pro b650s, teamgroup t-create expert cl30 overclocking 10l ddr5 32gb 6000mhz, be quiet pure power 12 1000w non modular atx 3.1, silicon power 2tb ud90 nvme 4.0 r/w up to 5000/4800 mb/s, id cooling frozn a620 pro Se.

Fresh, updated, downloaded (not copied) windows 10, 5080 updated, and motherboard updated, bios 1.I0

Just built this rig for VR gaming with all new parts, except second hand 5080, which, before I bought, tested myself in person benchmark 9000+ in heaven, and I played overwatch for 10mins on high settings with no issues.

New PC stutters briefly every 20 seconds or so during any gaming (monitor only, not using vr yet) or watching an mp4 video. Even mouse pointer occasionally stutters with no programs open. Haven’t really installed many programs yet, just steam, epic games and pimax play for setting up VR. It now benchmarks at 8131 in 3d mark steel nomad(free version) and around 8600 in heaven which seems OK. Temps and cpu, gpu, and ram % seem fine.

Update: Watching online videos is fine.

Update: GPU jumps to 100% when stuttering. In a demanding game, every 2-15 seconds the whole screen and mouse pointer will freeze for about half a second.

HOPLEFULLY RESOLVED? RESEATED ALL POWER CONNECTIONS AND RAM. SEEMS TO BE WORKING NOW.

Thanks in advance to everyone for their time and expertise!!!

Did you reuse an old install of windows and just update it? Is there a reason you didnt upgrade to windows 11?

Ryzen 5 7600,
msi ventus 3x 5080,
msi pro b650s, what BIOS are you on?
teamgroup 32gb 30cl, What speed? is it running at the correct speed or default?
becool 1000w, Bequite? if so what model

Did you build the PC yourself? Sounds like an external short on the motherboard somewhere. Lightly jostle the PC up and down with the switch on the PC flipped to off, do you hear and screws bouncing around? Try reseating or making sure every cable is fully seated to and from the PSU. Did you install the CPU? Did it physically slot in easily? When you installed the CPU cooler on top, did that go smoothly, or was it harder than you expected? What are the temperatures on the CPU like?

Are you sure that PSU brand is right? I cannot find a becool anywhere?
Hopefully not a Deepcool...

Yes I built it, I'm fairly tech savvy, but been awhile since I've done one.

Nothing bouncing around. I will reseat each connection.

I installed CPU, it dropped right in with no pressure. Tried a slight wiggle once seated and looked good.

Cooler is id cooling frozn a620 pro Se. Pipes bent a few degrees(5?) out of the box on one side, didn't seem to affect anything. Both fans spinning. Thermal paste seemed a bit dry and pasty and didn't want to really spread out. I may have too much on there? I seem to remember it spreading more easily.

I tried a few titles with settings cranked up all the way and never got it above 76 C.

PSU is be quiet pure power 12 1000w non modular atx 3.1.

Update: Seems intermittent. Now working fine.

Thanks for the response. Seems I have retail version of windows. I was able to use my key and followed the instructions on activating after hardware change from here.

No strong feelings about win 11 or not. I don't think it's preferred in the VR sim racing community.

MB bios -1.I0
Ram - 6000mhz. I see it was 4800. Changed to 6000 in bios.
Oops, PSU is be quiet pure power 12 1000w non modular atx 3.1.
Storage is silicon power 2tb ud90 nvme 4.0 r/w up to 5000/4800 mb/s

"is this OS only or everything." sorry I didn't understand.

Update: problem now seems intermittent.

Try a clean boot to eliminate software as potential issues. If the issue does not crop up with nothing running on clean boot then 3rd party programs can be eliminated. Might want to try running LatencyMon as it can give some clues as to what is going on.

Did you do a fresh windows install on the new hardware or just move an existing drive with an old OS from your last computer and do updates.

"is this OS only or everything." sorry I didn't understand.

Is this the only hard drive in your system...... do you have a drive for the OS and a second drive for games/ docs/ movies...ect. Or do you have a single drive that everything is on?

More and more games are now needed to be installed on a SSD instead of a standard spinning hard drive.

Yes, fresh install. Windows downloaded on new machine, not copied over.

Yes it is the only drive, an nvme, as I mentioned, which is an ssd.

Thanks, will try.

Hey there,

Did you clear CMOS after updating the bios? If not try that.

Also, nVidia drivers for the the RTX5000 series are a bit flaky, and are causing issues like this. See Tom's reviews. It's like a disclaimer, the drivers are bad.

Dry and flaky, isn't so good for thermal paste. What paste did you use?

Hats off to you!!!! Reseated psu connections and ram. Now seems to be working good. Wow these things are that finicky? I'm an auto mechanic, among many other disciplines, so I have a pretty deep understanding of electrical connections, lol.

Thanks again, and between here and a couple reditt posts, out of the dozen or so responders, you were the only one to suggest this solution. Cheers!!!! Hooray!!!! May the computer g*ds shine upon thee.

update, reseating psu seems to have solved it.

Good advice thanks. If I get new problems I will explore using older nvida drivers.

Used the paste that came with my budget cooler, id cooling frozn a620 pro Se. Guess they're not all created equal huh? Recommend a redo, or just monitor for issues?
