Question My new laptop sucks. How can I find out if it's the configuration OR if it has a problem?

Hi,

I have just purchased an Asus laptop:
i5 1235U
8GB RAM on-board + 8GB
512GB SSD
Windows 11 with license... etc.
(no video card, just the Intel's)

The thing is, I am far from pleased. For example, my previous laptop was on an i3 processor from 2014 with 8GB RAM on Windows 10. I see no difference... That one didn't even have a Windows license, it was cracked, and was also full of viruses. I am actually refraining now from logging in my OneDrive because I might infect my new laptop with files I uploaded there from the old laptop.

So...
I haven't used the new laptop much. But when I have a 20MB PSD file open in Photopea (an online Photoshop like service) and Windows 11's screen recorder running just for a selected area (the canvas) the laptop has no smoothness. Again, nothing else is running but the screen recorder and one Chrome file. Yet, the laptop often lags, it sometimes responds with delays even to simply switching between layers. I've cleaned all browser's temporary files etc. Nothing changed.

It seems rather strange. I really wasn't expecting a such bad performance. Is there any way I can find out if this is how the system should work or if there's anything wrong with my laptop in particular?

Thanks.
