My new pc almost caught fire today....my fault or faulty case fans (Lian Li BORA LITE 120 RGB) (PICS INCLUDED)

So I got the shit scared out of me this morning when I started up my new pc with my brand new Lian Li BORA LITE 120 case fans hooked up (6 of them) for the first time and there was immediate smoke and things smelled hot (1 fan wasn't lit up and it wasn't spinning at all). I immediately shut the pc down and looked at it closer and saw melted plastic and crushed dreams. The RGB header on my MB where the fans daisy chained into (all 6 fans' RGB connectors went into this one RGB header on the MB started to smoke as well and my motherboard itself started to smoke (pic included). So I need help determining if this was a case of a bad fan(s) or did I hook up something wrong/dangerously. I included a diagram to show how I had everything configured.

Also note that I had this pc running for a couple days before this so I know all the other components besides the fans are good. I even had the fans RGB connected and working properly for a couple days before (the reason why I just had the fans RGB and not them running with the PWM is because I was waiting for a PWM fan extension cable to come in the mail before I could hook them up to my MB header, the included cable was ridiculously short). The fans lighting synced up properly with Asus Aura sync and everything so I really thought I could plug in this extension cable and I would be good to go.....

Did I screw up somewhere (overloaded a fan header on MB with too much Amps or something???) or did I just run into terrible (and terribly expensive) bad luck?

I would suspect the way it was hooked up or that extremely cheap looking 6-way fan hub with no apparent extra power. If it's only 1x PWM powering it that would be your problem.

*A single fan header should only support up to 2x fans. More than that and you are playing with fire.

What's the SATA powering?

Use a good quality fan hub https://www.amazon.com/Phanteks-PWM-Fan-Controller-PH-PWHUB_01/dp/B00M0R05WE/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1530058542&sr=8-1&keywords=phanteks+pwm+fan+hub

*I think I see what it is, the SATA and PWM cable connect to the hub through one PWM header. That just doesn't seem right to me though. I say it's bad engineering. Get a new fan hub.

I'm thinking you might be right, but why on Earth would Lian Li ship these fans with a "hub" like this that isn't even capable of doing what it looks like it should? I read the instructions and hooked things up correctly, I mean WTF is this crap? All it got me was burned up fans and a ruined MB....
