today i built my pc and when i turn it on, it appears as its turning on normally, all the coolers spin and the motherboard and the gpu light up, but its stops after a few seconds and keeps restarting it self.
my system is: i5 4690k, gtx g1 970, Gigabyte GA-Z97X-GAMING 3 motherboard, XFX 550W 80+ Bronze, hyperx fury 8gb 1866mhz, Western Digital 1 TB, 7200 rpm and nzxt s340 case.

can you please help me

Do you have one or two ram modules?
Did you check all the case screws on the back of the mobo to make sure its not touching?
Are the screws tight, but not forced tight?
Can you try posting without your gpu?
Try the paperclip test on psu?

When it reboots itself do you get a post first? How long does it go in terms of seconds before it reboots?

If you leave it off for a while does it stay on for a little longer then reboot and then it stays on gradually shorter time and reboot?

Then that rules out an overheating issue from a faulty water cooler. Nothing on the screen could possibly indicate RAM but you would usually at least get a post. Why did you only purchase 1 RAM module?

Did you connect the 8 pin connector to the motherboard on the plug by the CPU?

I would purchase another stick of RAM. Since the motherboard is dual channel that's what its looking for. I wouldnt be surprised if that was the culprit.

When the PC reboots does it stay off for a few seconds before turning it self back on or is it an instant off then on?

yes, i connected the 8 pin connector, and checked every connector several times. i will try it with and additional ram a bit later, form a friend who has the same ram.
and its off for 3-4 seconds before turning on again

when your computer tries to post it has beep codes. My asrock has 1 short beep for successful post, anything else indicates a fault.

These are dependant on mobo manufacturer but would probably be the easiest way to find out what was wrong. Any pc hardware store should have extras of these or maybe even a friend has a spare. Or just borrow from inside someone else pc to check yours.

Check your motherboard box. There should be a little speaker on a double wire in there that can be connected to the motherboard. Pretty sure it is standard to ship those nowadays. I owned an EVGA for awhile and it came with mine.

It is #17 on the post that Andrew had up earlier

Nah they are all generic. They connect to the same bit as your front panel does on the mobo, you know for hdd led and power switch? there will be a 4-pin part for pc spkr

its generally universal. They will have the 3 prong connection on them. I cant tell from the pictures of the motherboard where it connects to so cant be sure. Check your manual and you should see the connection area for it

That's what I wasn't sure on just looking at the pictures of the board. I have seen 3 and 4 prong ones before and couldn't tell what he had lol

ok, i got the speaker, put it in and turned the pc on, and the whole time (12 seconds, before restarting again) it kept on beeping. do you know what that means? a computer technician from a store near me said it could be the psu failing. could it be true?

that....is not a healthy sound. There is no pattern to it, the sound starts immediately so there is no chance of any post tests being performed. Your PC is cutting itself out to avoid damaging something, I would check the PSU if I were you.
