Hi guys, looking for some advice on upgrading my ram and a cpu cooler. Needed to use a new account seeing as the site won't link me to the reset password screen.
Ive dipped into upgrading before and this time i want more ram and a cpu cooler. A nice early present before xmas and a little project for me to learn from.
I prefer Amazon listings as i have a large basket already and wish to have everything delivered at the same time.

Okay so my system has 8gb ram (as one stick) and im looking to add another 8gb to make it 16gb. My build was shipped to me from a website and i have some pretty generic ram which i can't really find online. The label says '8G 2Rx8 DDR3 1333U 644053-4673 RoHS [6m] Transcend
Is mixing ram okay? Can i mix brands, ram timings and speeds? I know that i will only get the lowest speed.
CPU cooler
I overclocked my turbo clocks despite it not being a K cpu. My temps have always been fine but the fan can get noisy. However the main problem is that im sure my front intake fan is influenced by the CPU temp and revs up to Xbox360 jet fighter mode and goes full throttle during gaming sessions. This means i can't play at night without subtitles because all of a sudden i walk onto an aircraft carrier.
On top of this i also took off the fan and heatsink form the CPU for the first time and forgot about the thermal paste which would have originally been there. I risked reinstalling the stock cooler and running with the existing paste residue which was left. My CPU looks fine but is running hotter which can be expected. I have no thermal paste and figured i should kill two birds with one stone and just upgrade and get some paste for free.
Im looking at the Cooler Master Hyper TX3 EVO and Cooler Master hyper 212 evo, however the purchase will be influenced on weather or not i can install the backplate without removing the motherboard as i have no confidence in doing this. My case has a cut out but im not sure if i will be able to install. I have a very entry level Asgard Midi Tower Case. Would the bigger fan even fit in my case with it being a midi tower?
