I Have a Nvidia GTX 1080, which are still sold brand new, yet Nvidia won't update mine with the latest drivers? Curious...Besides greed for more money I don't get it.

What country are you in where 1080 is still sold new?

Hard to believe can't source updated driver, how are you searching?

I just searched 1080 driver, got 566.36 5/12/2024.

Description bug, site is US. Search Geforce drivers if not comfortable clicking it, go to official Geforce drivers and do manual search.

I see some on there for sale. I’d guess most of them are 3rd party sellers. I apologize you’re having trouble. The gtx 1080 is a very old card at this point, at least 6-7 years old I would say. If you just purchased the card I’d recommend to return it. Even something like the AMD rx 6600 or 7600 at the entry level should compete with a 1080 and be a lot newer.

Make sure Windows is up to date. There should be no reason you cannot get a driver update for that card. Doing a manual search for your card, it gave me the latest driver to download, that was released 5 days ago.

My computer is up to date. The driver that would not update was Dec 5, 566.36. I really don't know what I would gain from a new GPU. My graphics are fantastic. Oh well. They just want me to spend up to $2000.00 for a new GPU. Thanks to all.

There could be a bug that causing it, in the install pack. Your card is listed as compatible. Nvidia isn't trying to get you to buy a new card. If that was the case, they would have dropped driver support completely.

I have a Nvidia GTX 1080 and the graphics are great. The only problem is that Nividia won't update anymore. I really do see how a new card could improve the graphics? Thanks

GTX 10 cards are on the trailing edge of driver support, and will likely be dropped soon. It doesn't make any sense at all to be buying one now. A much better option would be an RTX 2060 Super or RTX 2070 non-Super. I consider that the bare minimum for a budget build. Those two cards are roughly in the same performance class as a non-Ti 1080, aren't too expensive, and have more features. They will also be in driver support for longer than the 1080. I have seen Titan Xp cards for $150 on ebay, but I still wouldn't even touch one of those, because the 4060 Ti is faster, the 16gb version has more memory, and the power consumption is way lower. Pascal is headed for the retirement home, at this point. 2 years ago you might have still been able to make a case for using them, but not anymore.
