[SOLVED] My PC crashes all of a sudden

Here are the specs:
CPU - Intel Core i7 3770
GPU - NVIDIA GeForce GTX 770
Motherboard - Gigabyte Z77M-D3H-MVP
RAM - 16gb (2x8gb) Crucial

After adding the RAM
(previously 2x4gb Kingston), I am unable to play many games as my PC crashes and takes me to a black screen for about 15 seconds before loading a white boot-up screen that doesn't allow me to press anything. I am unsure if it was some settings that I changed that I have tried re-tracing and undoing but the issue prevails.
Prior to this I was able to play Modern Warfare - Multiplayer (on all low settings), but now even in the menu it will zap and crash. Any ideas on the issue?

check cpu and gpu temperature. PC will shutdown if temperatures get too high. Also check cooling for components, including gpu fans and cpu cooler. If those still dont work, try checking the thermal paste. you might have to reapply it.
