Question My pc doesn't detect my gpu but works with friend's pc

I just build a pc, when I turn it on everything's fine. The fans (gpu, cpu cooler) and led work. But it shows on Tv no signal. I've tried with my laptop and it's not the Hdmi cable or TV fault. I went trouble shooting in a pc shop and it turns out the gpu is faulty. I return the gpu to the seller and when he put the gpu in his pc it works. He returned the money to me but now I'm not sure what to do. Will buying a new gpu fix this

Please provide your system specifications; CPU, MOBO, RAM, GPU (the one in question), PSU, etc. so we know what you are working with.

I know I just did a new build for my son this past weekend and when I booted it up, I got no signal on a new EVGA RTX 3070 FTW3 Ultra. I took it out and re-seated it in the PCIe slot and it work just fine, which meant I didn't have it full in (it happens). This could have been an issue.

All of the parts are new except ram and gpu
The ram works because it boot up into bios when he changed the gpu

what cable are you using to connect the GPU to your monitor? If you're using display port, it may not boot until you first update the GPU drivers. You will have to use an HDMI 1.4 first.
