today I got my gpu back from RMA service and installed the card and all the drivers and software. I had to reconfigure bios and also repair the pc as it had some problems. I downloaded the windows 10 creators update to patch the OS since it wouldnt update. I ran the creators update patch and the pc loaded up fine. I then ran all the software tools to cleanup the pc and get rid of excess crapware. I then ran ccleaner and to get rid of the old OS, I would run the ccleaner when it would delete the old.os windows files. I then restarted the pc to finish the cleanup process and now my pc is broken. The windows screen is missing and all is left is the Bios logo display and loading element. I can hear all the window sounds and it appears it has windows functions but I cant see what Iam doing. I have no windows display output, Just basic display into only BIOS and just BIOS logo loading screen. But everything is gone. What do I do? I have alot of files saved on my main boot drive. Some of my passwords and documents are on there and now I cant access them. WTF do I do? I spent almost 2 grand on this system and havent fully been able to use it or get it sucessfully running without any problems.

Here is my build: MSI z170 motherboard (with latest firmware on BIOS)
Intel 6600k@4,4 Ghz

16 Gb DDR4 corsair dominator ram
MSI 980ti
one 250 gb samsung 850 pro

one corsair 240 gb ssd

and a wd 1 tb drive

running on windows 10.

Im really concerned and having second thoughts. Im thinking about cutting my losses and settling for a prebuilt pc. I just wasted alot of money on this system.

so cant you keep the main drive for now, make a new install on one of the drives with the games oin it or buy another drive to put a clean windows install on, then get the pc up and running then see about getting the files off the main drive ?

If you’re certain that the drive has crashed you can remove it from the computer and connect it to another computer as a secondary drive. You can do this using a USB to IDE/SATA adapter.
If you can browse the contents of the drive it probably means that the operating system has been corrupted and the data on the drive is fine. If so you can try and copy the data from the failed drive to the drive on the computer you’re connected to.
not sure if it matters if its a SSD or HDD ?
I got that idea...

So have you tried a clean windows install from a different dirve, say from a usb drive ? it seems as though somethink from windows system has been deleted which is causing widows not to load ? I'm no pro at this stuff though but that's how it looks, custom pc's can be a pain, mine had issues at start, now I'm waiting on new motherboard to be deliverd to finish its update.

yea but still one problem; I have files on my main drive. The other 2 drives have just games and saveable files and junk that I store. I just cant access the main drive with the files. I need a way to transfer the docs and sensitive data on the main drive or risk losing it all if I do a fresh install.

You don't need a new "prebuilt pc".
You just need to fix the OS on this system.

By 'fix', I mean reinstall.
With all your screwing around with CCleaner and "all the software tools to cleanup the pc", you have undoubtedly messed up the OS.

Yes, your "files" will probably disappear.

This is why we always harp on backups.

yes its an SSD. Whats a good device for transferring data? and do I need software? The thing its an unknown display problem with windows. Like It has basic functionality and it gets sound. Just broken image. So something with microsoft display got damaged. Tbh, Im kinda done with this. I miuch rather have an expert who can installl windows properly with it being optimized since thats been my issue for some time. I dont like what windows 10 does when you dont remove the privacy problems and all the crapware on the build. So Im turning to some brebuilt manufacturers that will do everything correctly and keep it smooth. Ill just take the loss with the pc parts and move on. Rn. Im concerned with getting the files off the drive and savine the information.

I just want the files off the main drive and Im probably gonna have to play alot of money for some more storage so I need to know what to do to safeguard my data and transfer it. I have a backup laptop that I can use to transfer data. Please help me out to transfer the data. What can I get to access files off of a boot drive?

I don't if any as I have not used them but I'm sure there is a lot of software to do that sort of thing, ask around see what people use the most, also most basic files can be pulled by just plugging it in and dragging them over

the main drive with the excess files is the 250 Gb samsung evo SSD. So will one of these work? Please let me know and if you can find more options. I need to know soon because Iam putting my pc for sale and sell some of the parts so I can put down for a downpayment on a prebuilt

So how am I suppose to run startup repair when windows display no longer works?

thanks. Also what do you mean boot from a disck or install media? Im not that tech savvy. I know how to install and uninstall and build PC's but I have a poor understanding of windows software. There is still things that I just figured out how to do to this day. I learn a new thing everyday with everything I do on my PC. I appreciate your help

Like helpstar is saying you will need a DVD/USB drive to clean install windows onto as if its a new hard drive, they can be anythink above 4GB I belive, then you would change your boot settings in the bios to let it boot from the DVD/USB drive which will allow your pc to run windows, if that works then you know that the "cleaning" you did has deleted files that shouldn't be deleted, once your in your windows on your pc you could then take the stuff off the damaged drive and save it to one of the other game drives if enough space, then you could re format your none working drive and reinstall windows again onto there and start all over again but this time you will have your stuff u wanted to kjeep from the other damaged drive
:D

thanks. But now I gotta wait for the order to be shipped so I can take off the files on the main drive and save them before they get deleted. Tbh. Iam thinking of selling the parts and getting a prebuilt. I got things I can sell back to get the money to buy the prebuilt and still have some parts leftover. Its really frustrating to get windows running the way I want to. Ill just leave the experts to do it

This seems amazingly premature. We're not talking about a serious issue here (if it's the problem), but basic PC upkeep that you'll have to do with any PC, including a prebuilt.

I wouldn't get rid of it at all, it's just one of them things that happen, the tools u used to clean up the pc are not the best if u don't know what there deleting as u have found out, can u list ur specs for the pc ?
