Hi everyone, I live in a flat with my brother and I struggle to get a consistent connection to our internet without trailing an ethernet cable through the entire flat. I have tried using a TP-Link powerline and I also use a PCI-E network adapter but both fail to sustain a good connection, sometimes being so slow that I cannot even load a youtube video. Our wifi package is with Virgin Media and a good one being able to achieve 25-35MBps download when using ethernet. The powerline and network adapter also leave me with very high latency (170ms) which makes some games unplayable.

Additionally, my brother has zero issues with his PC getting a good connection, he uses a network adapter which came with the motherboard which screws into the back of his PC, it is magnetic which he places on top of the PC. Also, we tried putting his PC where mine usually is and it did not hinder his connection at all.

Any advice on how to improve my situation would be greatly appreciated, thanks :)

Please let me know if you need any more information.

My PC specs:
Motherboard: ROG STRIX B450-F
Network adapter: TP-Link AC1300 Archer
Powerline: TP-Link TL-PA7017
OS: Windows 10

Brothers PC:
Motherboard: B450 I AORUS PRO WIFI
Network adapter: Intel Wireless-AC 9260 (I believe this is an on board chip rather than a PCI adapter)
OS: Windows 10

Modem: Virgin Media HUB 4
Number of devices connected: 4-5 (2 PC's, 2 phones and a work laptop)

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

You could try and make sure you're on the latest BIOS version, then try reinstalling your chipset drivers, uninstall the drivers for your networking adapter and then manually reinstall in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator.
