My PC speakers are too soft

We have a new XP PC. Lots of RAM, HD and 3 GHZ Intel CPU.

But we can barely hear the sound from the speakers.
We have increased the volume to FULL.

The same speakers on our OLD PC is loud.

Can anyone pls help us out ?

I am NOT technical

Thanks
Kim

You probably need to increase the Master Volume in the Windows driver.

Go into control panel, then "Sound and audio devices".

There is a master volume control here. You may also wish to check the box
"Place volume icon in the taskbar". Press apply. Double click the icon in
the taskbar (normally bottom right) to bring up detailed volume controls.

If this doesn't work, try updating your sound driver (look this up in your
pc/sound card manual if possible.

Lastly, if this doesn't work, get new speakers!

I can't tell from your post what you increased to FULL. If you only
increased the Master Volume slide-bar in the sys tray (software) or
used Control Panel to play with Windows' idea of what the volume
should be, examine the speakers themselves for a manual volume
control. My small, satellite speakers have a button on top (a '+' '-'
key) that physically controls max and min volume no matter how the
software is set.

Make sure wave volume and master volume are turned up in your sound
card properties.

When you say that you have set the Volume to High, do you mean the Software
Volume setting in XP, or the Hardware Volume Knob on the speakers? They
BOTH have to be adjusted relative to each other.

It sounds to me like your old computer had an "amplified sound card"
and new computers do not have these anymore, you may now need to buy
amplified speakers
