make sure the latest available motherboard drivers are installed,
downloaded directly from the board manufacturer's product support page(s).

check your Device Manager for any 'Network adapter' or other warnings.

check the OS installation with SFC(system file checker) routines.

if all else fails, it could very well be that your motherboard has just malfunctioned.
you could try a network PCIe card with Ethernet available.

Hey, none of this worked. Thanks for trying though.

If you look at IPCONFIG /all does the ethernet show in a disconnected state or is it active and maybe has a bad IP address.

If it is disconnected it tends to be a hardware issue. Most times its is a bad cable. It would be nice if cable just completely failed but it is common for them to work on some machines and not others. If it is not the cable then it would be the port.
A cable is going to be a lot cheaper to try before you replace the port. Make sure you buy quality cables there are massive amounts of fake cables. Those flat cables are the most common kind of fake cable because the wires are too small. You need nothing special cat5e but the wire needs to be pure copper with wire size 22-24. If you do not see that information clearly stated buy from another provider.

Just wondering if its not a hardware related problem ... maybe you could try this.

right click the icon to the internet to the left of your speaker icon , click on change adaptor options , right click your internet connection icon and choose properties , click on internet protocol v 4 to highlight it then properties , on the bottom half of the page you are looking at now , click on the button use the following dns , now in the first box you need 8 8 8 8 and in the second you need 8 8 4 4 , finally tick validate settings before exit .
