my pc turns on for less then a second then turns off.

I push the power button, lights and fan turns on. But then half a second later, it turns back off. It worked perfectly earlier today. New build. Please help.

Recheck to make sure all cables and components are firmly in place and that you have not inadvertently shorted our the mother board by a loose wire or unneeded standoff. How long was the system stable before this happened. What PSU are you using?

Reset the BIOS. Short the CLR_CMOS jumper if your motherboard has it, or unplug the computer from the wall, remove the CMOS battery from the motherboard, wait a few minutes, then try again.

Everything is plugged in from what i can see. Should i just take everything apart and rebuild it? I'm using a Fractal design newton 1000w platinum psu.

Are you sure there are nothing causing a short to the board?, is the heatsink seated correctly?

I just took the heatsink off and tried it, same thing. I tried putting one stick at a time in each slot, nothing changed.

I haven't, how do you do that on a Asus Sabertooth z87 board?

Just try taking out the round Silver battery shaped like a coin for 30 seconds and put it back in and see if works.

just tried that too, still not turning on.

It's been stable for about a day. I installed windows and all the drivers yesterday morning. It's been working great till this morning when there were updates.

yes, i've tried without ram, just one stick each slot. still the same problem

Most likely a faulty motherboard.

IT TURNS ON WITHOUT THE CHIP! so, get a new one?

looks like the cpu is dead and need to replace it if under warranty.

Also its worth looking around the cpu for anything like hair,thermalpaste.etc on the socket or under the cpu. a couple of pictures would Help alot. of the cpu front and back and socket.
