so 2 weeks ago i left my pc at home for 4 days and when i come back, my pc couldn't even start. my first thought was my psu, then i try to use my psu to my old pc and it works. then i have another thought, maybe it's time to upgrade my i5 2320. so i went to pc store with my whole rig, then they tested and it's running smoothly. a bit confused at the time. but i still upgrade my rig to i5 6400, asus h110, and 16 gigs ddr4.

so with those new parts, everything's running fine until last night i encountered the same problem, i couldn't boot my pc up. i tried to re-connect all psu cabbles, and it turn on ONCE and then i cant anymore. tried to bypass the power switch in case my casing button are damaged.

so my question is, is it my psu? i'm using enermax NAXN 650w right now.
and i'm using r9 280x right now and thinking to get a rx 480 when the non ref card are out.
if it's really my psu, is 500w or 550w psu will be enough with my current build?

sorry for the long post
thanks before

Solution

The VSs are bad PSUs.
Look for: SeaSonic S12II 520w or 620W, Super Flower SF-550P14HE or, even better, SF-550P14XE

yeah i thought so, but that psu works fine on my old pc (pentium 4ish i dont know lol). strange.

nope, i'm not gonna cf or overclock, it's not my thing.
evga psu isn't available here in my country so i guess i'm gonna buy corsair or enermax again.
thanks for your quick response man
still waiting others maybe someone know how to fix it without me changing my psu

i already bought 6400 2 weeks ago because 6500 were sold out and i couldn't find it anywhere.
my local store only sell modular and gold XFX's and that's waaay out of my budget.
i think i'm gonna get VS 550. do you know other PSU that in vs550 price range?

Solution

between those two, which one is better in performance?

seasonic have 5 years warranty, SF only 3
SF is only $15 cheaper than seasonic
