I got the Titan X 2 weeks ago....well i didnt have much time in hand to test it out but well the thing is after these few days of gaming and stuff i recently noticed my Titan X is goin hot! above 80C

in GTA 5,Witcher 3,Skryrim....all games are running fine but the temp is too high...I live in india thats one thing i should point out, my country's ideal is 35 to 40C.

Now in Nvidia Website the officials say Titan X maximum High temp taken is 95C....well even tho its said that i am scared let alone the warranty.
With that said i am using Nvdia GPU accleration on Videos it seems Titan X is running hotter at 60C in just 2% usage on simple GPU acclerated Videos....This is the first time i am using a titan so this thread might be kinda like a noob.
(I used Nvidia GT240,GTX 560Ti and GT730, these card never ran this hot)

also 2 things to report Nvidia Geforce 353.30 WHQL often freezed my PC at times and also i herd people say same.....so is this driver the culprit??

Side notes: I use Vsync since both my monitors are a 2560x1080 and 1600x900 with 60Hz.

yes i didnt turnoff while recording sorry for that....The rason i am using Vsync ON is cause i am experiencing Micro stutter in games with the card...

yes indded....i keep my pc very clean but this is the 1st time i ever having problem like this!
My machine stay pretty down as u can see....its midnight 1:34 in my country temps dropped so its 36 but ideal temps stay 30 to 45 as i said.

i want to but holding till i get the reason of it! I googled a bit found few titan X owners complaining about the stock fan making the card heat up.....so i think i gonna try this Fan Control and check out to see if it actually solves it in the end or not.....the nvidia driver is currently bugged too so i am waitng on before the final call on this.

Yes 353.30 and now upgraded to 353.38 which is not officialy released....I check it for 20min on a game seems that freezing has stopped so far. But the heating issue is continuing if i dont use Msi afterburner.

But if i run at 80C past 3hrs or so wont my gpu get some damage or wear out in performance?

I did read online people claim 80C+ is normal but after using msi after burner i take it back.....the Fans are somehow by default Running on very low RPM! after using MSI afterburner i find the temp has got 70 to 75MAX....so Nvidia Driver might be issue i am not sure.....i dont even overclock wonder why the card heats. well and while playing video card stay 57-63C.....weird indeed.

On the nvidia driver/technology the fans start working on 60c+ for more silence but your card wont last much if you play on such high temps. It doesnt damage it just lasts LESS. Do what I do open MSI afterburner and put the fan speed to 65% while gaming and when not gaming 25%. If you arent bothered from the noise put the fan more than 65%+. Its better to damage the fans and then change them with another than changing the card when it burns. My card has 2 fans and while i play GTA V v.high settings i never had more than 60c

Well i take the advice! I am gonna use all my fan power on the GPU! (its has 5yrs of warranty thats one advantage).....I am really curious why nvidia would take Silence>performance and longevity! its very stupid that i have to do it by myself, the fans go max of 4700RPM & lowest is 900to1200RPM.....

This is how i settled up the fans for now!

but doesn't heat later after aging a bit affect the performance? well i dont have much knowledge on Wear & Tear of the GPU boards....but I herd the term "Thermal Throttling" effecting performance and 80C under is the safest.
😛 even with the warranty i just dont want the replacement date hassel again.....i want the performance and longevity for now.

If you were pushing it to temps that the card was never designed to be put under, yes. But the temps you've mentoned are by no means out of the ordinary for graphically demanding games. When you start pushing 90 degrees you may want to investigate the issue further, but I think you're good to go for the time being. Personally, I think you would have been better off getting a 980 Ti than the Titan X, though.

Throttling is programmed into the BIOS so your Titan will throttle the same way my reference 980 Ti's do. If that's something you're concerned about, see if you can return your Titan for an aftermarket 980 Ti with a custom PCB.

Regardless, if you have a five year warranty and the card did, for argument sake, die due to heat, you could always get a replacement.

yes but does you 980ti heat to 60C or close to it? while playing GPU Acclerated Video? I use Media player classic and bam the temp just hit 60 on 1 to 2% usage. (since 980ti and titan X are same chipset so i bet they gonna be alike)

my one last question with this is that is video accleration temp normal at 60C? i know idea 50C ok.... ( I just want peace to my heart that my rig is working perfectly sorry if i am being annoying asking so many questions like this)
ok then! i hope my problem is solved then! since msi afterburner is doing the job....

Ccampy is on the money. Your fans aren't AC units. They're only bringing in outside air to the inside of your case. If the temperature is hot, you're not going to achieve anywhere near as efficient cooling as you would from an air conditioned room.

well i kinda expected my room temp adding the extra......but the gpu from rest component is more effected
