I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD My Passport external drive!
🙁 I'd strongly recommend you go into
Disk Management in Windows and check how and if the HDD is recognized there. Posting some screenshots would be really helpful. Another thing you should try is connecting it with a different USB cable and to a different USB port on your computer. If you have access to another laptop/PC, I'd also suggest plugging the hard drive there as well to see how it would get detected by the other system.
As soon as you can access your files on the WD My Passport, make sure you back them all up somewhere else immediately!
