my win7 msi core 2 duo pc always restart or freeze on a blue screen with random errors and messages (like driver not less or equal, non-page, etc, i dont know what they mean but its about physical memory dump. it does not go beyond logo when restarting. i have nvidia g500 series vidcard. it was formatted by a pc specialist. i can\'t update anything. i do not know what to do, i just know how to use pc and design. pls help! before my brother dcp 7010 and epson t10 share usb port and removed both. if software, it has been formatted and win7 reinstalled with other programs by a pc specialist. now it doesnt stop freezing or restarting. pls, pls help

Could you look at the Device Manager and tell me if theirs any items their with a yellow triangle next to it? Specifically one that says something about graphics card.

Have a nice day and good luck!

config?? as u can c, evn my question says it all! tyvm for replying, it almost made me cry... like i found a partial solution already...

i hope this is what u mean... i have 320G HDD, partitioned into 3- c 100 g for os and apps installed, 50G taken from it as it was 149G before and i wanted the extra space since os doesnt need that much, 149G for files. after the pc spec formatted it, installed win7, and other apps such as ms office the prob worsen now i cannot get into desktop. i thought the bsod will disappear when he formatted since the error said it could be new software installed. any software should hav been removed. as for hardware, i do not have any newly installed. i don't know if he updated drivers and he told me to update bios. i asked him if i have to do that since i saw also that bios must be updated in the bsod msg. he said dont touch bios, now he says i should update it. he is a specialist, so he says. then he said memory and motherboard are not compatible anymore even after 2yrs of sleeping together, same as nvidia geforce 500 series graphic card. then he said i have to buy new MB bec it is not working anymore and he sells it. i dont know what to do. if i had money i would just buy new PC but then i take this as a challenge to solve it and learn and also not to waste and add to garbage problem... environmentalist wanna be here. i have utility that i used to clean the registry before.

i am searching for info elsewhere and i found about bios from FD update but i can't get into my system. i am really lost. thank you all so much for trying to help. God bless you.

hi good guy... i can't get into my system anymore, i borrowed this laptop to find answers. my pc doesn't pass win7 logo it gives me bsod and/or freeze and/or restarts. at times, after msi image it is just gray screen- blank. before i remember i didn't see any yellow triangle with ! in it. i just read on the bsod mesg advice that i must try another adapter and/or update driver. prob is i can't get in to do that. the pc spec tried to lend me his 80G HDD to save my files into but his was not compatible with my system, it is not recognized. when he was formatting he saw the mem dump happen, he said my memory 2G (1 piece) is incompatible with the MB. but at least he was able to get in. when i arrived home, pc nvr went into desktop anymore. he said buy new MB. i feel that MB is not yet dead, or memory or graphics card. my gut says he wants me to buy his MB, solve this prob by avoiding it. i also feel that the solution is somehow simple... well at least not buying new parts. i just dont know how. before when my MB hanged he said dead MB buy new, he sells it, coz my system is from 2009. i let sit and when i used it voila! it was ok. he said i was lucky.

i admit i added new software but they were ok, except a home design software for win xp. if that was the prob, it was removed in the formatting. but prob has worsen.

pls wave your magic wands from there connect them to usb so it can reach me online. tyvm... so vm...

btw... when i had my pc it was xp era, no win7. brother dcp 7010 3in1 printer and epson t10 printer and the whole system worked seamlessly. on win7, the two printers share the port, dcp creates usb port usb001 t10 doesnt create its own, i am made to choose what to default. but then dcp doesnt print, it photocopies and scans (they are diff functions i understood from brother company). when i print it says as if the doc is sent to print but when checked there is not doc to print. all solutions from brother was futile even reinstalling drivers and updating. both are not connected anymore. i was advised to create a new port but there is no choice to make a usb002. xp was good before but broke bec we have unexpected blackouts and win7 is good now bec it is blackout resistant. prob is what i have now. i have no ups that gives you extra minutes to turn off. i hope u guys can share thoughts how i can make my printers coexist and work. i am just beginning to set shop to earn. dont ask where i am and how it is here... you'd be depressed as i am... i am just making the most of it and be positive.

Hi All.

I have more or less the same problem.

My setup:
4 x 2GB Kingston DDR2 800mhz
GA-EP43-DS3L
E6550
Radeon HD 4350
Vertex2 240 SSD
Win 7 HE x64
PSU is HP OEM 365watts
* This system used to be a HP dc7800p.

I started having the problem with the old HP mobo and thought this was the problem. I replaced the mobo as it had an erratic HDD-reading behaviour and thought this was what's making the system freeze (mobo would not read the drives at boot after a long shutdown). I replaced it with a new Gigabyte mobo as above, and still had the freeze/BSOD.

I thought it was the SSD so I tried a fresh install - still freezes. I then used a spare WD 160GB 7200 HDD with a fresh installs of Win7 Ultimate which I use for testing - no go.

I then thought it was the video card and tested it in another system - went fine.

Next is the PSU. I used a new 360w unit and still had the same problem. Video card requires min 300w per the manual.

Then there's the RAM. When all sticks are used the system either freezes/BSOD's, or the graphics pause and recover a few times then BSOD's. I tested each stick running it for 30mins each with no problems. I tested 2 sticks together with no problems. Only when I run all 4 sticks together do I get the freeze and BSOD. I also used memtest86+ which all passed.

I now have been using the system for a week running 2 x 2GB RAM and have the other 2 unused. Either of the sets can be used without problems. Could it be that the PSU is insufficient with all 4 sticks running?

Has anyone else come across this? 'Appreciate any thoughts/help. Thanks!

i think u know ur mb is with 4 x 1.8V DDR2 DIMM sockets supporting up to 16 GB of system memory.and u r try to use just 4x2gb that is 8gb which is half of the capacity of ur mb.
reason of problems
is basically for the oem psu, diff branded pc does not come with good psu, and i think ur psu is also used for many time(with use of psu its actual capacity also decrease time to time), and now it is not able to handle ur new quality rig, and for that reason it is just able to run 2x2gb or 4gb ram,
just go for a new good quality psu like seasonic, corsair, antec
after that the problem will be easily solve, and new good psu also help u for future up gradation of ur rig.............................
i think this is almost everything to slove problem like urs.

which psu u have?

basically this kind of problem happen when u have problem with psu, or ramu can check urs with diff ram and diff psu, 1st which psu u have?

Thanks Pratik2011.

As I mentioned I also tested the system using a new, albeit non-branded psu and had the same erratic ram behavior. Do you think I should try using a psu with higher capacity? Which capacity would you recommend?

PSU: Orion switching power supply with Intel and AMD logos
Model ATX 500W, SATA and 20+4pin checked
2G RAM DDR2 Kingston. (PC specialist said RAM is ok.) I was just advised to put it into the other slot. still same problem.

among the info i gathered are: run chkdsk, clean registry, uninstall video driver and reinstall. should i do any of them in my case? But then again I can't even get into safe mode, when i try instead of loading files, launch repair runs (a choice above start win7 normally options that i saw when i was still able to get to it. i tried it but same bsod. so sometimes i just go start win normally. after awhile it is where it is now.)

do i need to buy new PSU?

on the blue screen, i remember, it said to note the driver if identified but it wasn't. if it was, i didn't know.

you really know what u r talking about, ur answers r sooo short haha! tyvm pratik2011.

hello?... i am waiting for more of ur answers/help pratik... pls continue sharing thoughts/advice... i need to use my pc... i hope i have provided enough info (even not-needed extra info i think hehe). pls guys help... tnx a bunch...

tyvm... i'l chk new psu. so its not mamabrd or ram, vid driver, vid adapter... a question though... my pc is not pre-assembled clone, i bought parts from the best list in 2009 in the store and then assembled. so far no additional hardware has been added except LG DVD writer changed to LiteOn when it started to not read. only software have been added since. it was working great for 2 yrs. so i guess it is as what i have read somewhere here in tom's hardware that psu go downhill as time passes... ok i get it now. i'l post the result. ty very big again pratik.

yes u check with good quality psu...and i already told u that with time passes the psu capacity is also decreased and ur psu is not a good brand psu,,,go for antec, corsair, seasonic.

Thanks Pratik...
PSU issue checked - prob same.
Nvidia drivers uninstalled, using onboard graphics now, to reinstall Nvidia later - prob same
Memory checked - ok - prob same
additional BSOD message seen = "IRQL_" , "Registry..", "ntfs.sys", "fault in non-page area".
Booted from safe mode - ok 1x only, other attempts launches repair or restarts. Booted from Enable boot log = the ff came up:
Root cause found:
ACLs on file F:\windows\system32\KGyGaAvl.sys are not proper
old value = 0x12019f
Repair action: Access control repair
Result: Completed successfully. Error Code = 0x0
Time taken = 31 ms
STILL SAME PROB.
any other ideas? anyone? .... Please....

additional info... no best brands are available here like corsair, antek... even if with new PSU pc is still same... now the pc spec says when turned on only blank screen come up. his solution is only to change MB bec it is not good anymore he said. Can my PC still be revived with BIOS update, clean registry and update drivers? and if so, how? win7 or safe mode doesn't come up. it has been reformatted, so i think reformatting is not the answer anymore, is it? pls... any ideas anyone?

Hi Pratik,

It's been a while but I've been using a new Corsair 750w PSU and still no go on the 4x4GB ram issue, so I'm stuck with 2x2GB.

Any ideas?
