[citation][nom]hetneo[/nom]Microsoft failed with this concept, I don't think that NEC will succeed in marketing it. There just is no demand for this type of devices.[/citation]

yes there is, just not at 20000$ like the surface was looking to cost.

i can see a decent looking table in the living room, glass surface, and someone turns it on somehow, dont know the best way. it becomes like a tablet, well, lets say it runs windows 8. now in metro, it will be tablet but not tablet, and help everyone, but when someone wants to, it could switch from table to tv.

if the table itself was under 500$, the monitor was under 2000 for the table, and a user installed pc, i could see a 3-4000$ product people would buy. i mean people buy macs and they arent even close to as interesting.

Just add to it an electric generator so that it is wireless...
Anyone remembers that huge drawing tables used for technical drawing... perhaps that could be a use
for this kind of huge touchscreens...

Total Surface rip-off, but a step in the right direction.

They're so close, just need to push it a little farther to become killer.

They need the v2.0 version... perhaps offering 3x 1080p projectors providing a seamless 3240x1920 display...

[citation][nom]beoza[/nom]Put these guys in Star Trek uniforms change the office background to Engineering on the ST: TNG series Enterprise then make the base of the table look more futuristic and you see where they got their inspiration for this idea.[/citation]

Actually it looks more like that weird glass computer table they were using in the James Bond flick Quantum Of Solace.

Since this is in fact a Table style device. they have to make it strong enough to take what ever people do to it. Sit on it, pile stuff on it .I would even guess it has to be spill resistant since i am sure someone will place a can of beer on it at one point. Assuming its a capacitive screen those actions will not even cause any ill effects to the system.

This needs to be much tougher then your average TV set/Computer.

does this thing come in a wireless version? i mean it already has a cart to roll it around on, tablets are supposed to be portable, not something you can host thanksgiving on and play cards/risk on at the same time (eventho that is tremendously awesome).
