Hello,
I've been needing an upgrade from my Palit GTX 660ti, so with the new budget cards coming out I've decided its time for me to make my move. But unfortunately my PSU only has two six pin connectors, and all of the RX480s I've seen need a single 8 pin connector. Please help I'm on a budget and I really don't want to have to get a different PSU.
BTW my PSU is 850w.

Solution
An 850W PSU with just two 6-pin PCIe connectors tells me that the PSU is of very poor quality and should be replaced immediately. Any half-decent PSU rated for 850W should have four 8-pin connectors at least.

What's the exact make and model of the PSU? What other components are in your build?

Well it will work on a basic level and the gpu might not overlock very well, but the only other options (assuming the psu isn't modular) are replacing the PSU or running a 2x molex to 8 pin adapter, which will be even more janky than the 6 to 8 pin. He specifically said he didn't want to replace the PSU so some kind of sacrifice is gonna have to be made unless there's info he hasn't provided to us.

Generally, PSUs comes with two 6+2 PCIe pins. I have a 600b from EVGA and the cable splits into two 6+2 pin. I suggest you get a new PSU. By the way, a 850w psu should have at least 2 cables that splits into two 6+2, because they're suited for SLI.

Replacing the PSU should be done regardless. The OP's current one is almost certainly junk due to its apparent lack of 6+2-pin connectors. If the OP fails to buy a decent PSU then the sacrifice could be the entire PC along with the OP's personal files.

A good PSU is an investment. It'll protect the other components and doesn't need to be upgraded.
