Ok I am looking to build a new system, but am having trouble selecting a motherboard.

I want to use 2 8800gtx cards in SLI, a pcie raid controller card, and a soundblaster x-fi fatal1ty extreme gamer sound card.

With those big gtx cards taking two slots each I can't seem to find a mb with 2 unobstructed pcie slots

Any suggestions?

I miss the AT form factor, my old 486 had like 10 slots 4 pci and 6 isa slots...

For that matter I wish they still had isa slots, my old surfboard (makes the 8800gtx look small) sound blaster AWE-32 gold with a yamaha midi board on top sounds better than the x-fi in my opinion, still have it hooked up to my p2-333 :p

Two problems with using onboard raid

1. I already have 4 of the 74gig seagate 15k cheetah hard drives

2. PCI-E raid controllers are much better than the onboard ones and make a big difference in speed.

OK.
Get a server motherboard with a 3060 NVidia chipset and a PCI-X raid controller.

Have a look at this : http://www.tyan.com/product_board_detail.aspx?pid=163

It has 6 SATA 2/3G connections running off the HT via a NPF3600 and NPF 3050, up to 4 PCI-E (2 x8, 2 x16) with large spaces between the slots. Slot order = (PCI-E 8, PCI-E 16, PCI, PCI-E 8, PCI-E 16, PCI-X, PCI-X), it also has 10 USB 2.0 ports. It's an SSI/E ATX format board so you'll need a large case for it to fit (12" x 13").

What you're looking for is probably the S2915A2NRF which doesn't have the SAS ports and runs about $500 US.
