Need a good power supply for COSMOS II Case... help !!!

What is a good power supply for a COSMOS II case. Since the case is ultra tower sized- I need something that will work in this large case.

My current PC build:

2500k CPU
Asus Deluxe Z68 LGA1155 Mobo
2 Velociraptors RAID 0
10 2TB storage drives for BluRay MKV's
VERTEX 3 SSD MAX IOPS 120GB
ASUS Bluray drive
Liteon DVD Burner
AMD 6000 series video card (single card) (might upgrade soon)

I want to buy a power supply that I can live with for a few builds. Something very good. Modular. Excellent cable mgmt and long enough to work in my large case and power my system

Someone help me.

id go with atleast the toughpower grand 1000w, seeing as if somehow you used peak power on all drives u could draw like 300w just in HDD. adding a 2nd gfx card would probably push you beyond what 850w can sustain.

The Lightning 1300 (which is pretty close to the 1000w) has a Recommend 9+ rating from the Jonnyguru site. The Kingwin unit and the Rosewill Lightning are both Super Flower units

The two 1050 units are both Seasonic units, with gold rating, but are a touch pricier.

Where as the Kingwin unit is 80+ platinum and costs less than the two Seasonic made units, and comes recommended by the Jonnyguru site. Any of the 4 would be great units.

The Toughpower W0132RU 1000W is a Channel Well, which some people like, but I have had troubles with in the past, Their new Toughpower TP-1000M is an Enhance product, which is 80+ Gold rated, so should be a good product, but I haven't seen any reviews on it.

The thriftier choices are still the Rosewill or the Kingwin units.

You could even get the Rosewill Lightning 1300 for the price of the Seasonic units and it has 108A on the 12v line.

Corsair, Thermaltake, Cooler Master and OCZ do not make the units that they sell under their label. Although a few of them, Corsair I believe is one, design the units that they sell. Other PSU brand simply rebrand the PSU's of other manufactures. FSP, Delta, AcBel, Super Flower, Seasonic, Enhance, Seventeam, and Channel Well Technologies are a few examples of the actual manufacturers.

At a certain point what you are really buying is support. Once you pick one, then do some research and read different reviews on it. I have a Antec HCG-750 which is made by Delta, and a Rosewill Capstone 750 built by Super Flower.

Once upon a time Super Flower had a bad rep for its QA of its units, but the got better, and now the reviews of their 80+ Gold units seem to be consistently very positive. No matter what you get there is always a change that you get the bad apple of a bunch, but some makers tend to have more bad apples then others. Most of the talk I have seen around the Super Flower units has been positive in recent years.

Generalizations usually don't always work when it comes to OEM power suppliers. Not every model within a brand is good.

Corsair, for example, uses CWT, Seasonic and Flextronics as its OEMs. The Corsair Builder Series “CX“ uses CWT's low-end DSA II (it's also used by Enermax's NAXN/Tomahawk II series) platform and shares the reputation that goes along with it.

Each OEM offers platform tiers that their customers choose from. Some OEMs' low-end tiers are awful in terms of electrical performance. Some of the high-end tiers are excellent performers and that trait carries over in their customers' products as long as the customer hasn't directed the OEM to cut corners and compromise quality in the name of increasing their profit margin.

Some of the OEMs, like Seasonic, CWT (Channel Well Technology) and Delta, have high-end tiered products that show up in brands like Antec, Corsair, XFX and always get excellent reviews by the reputable power supply test review sites.

Other brands that have used OEMs that don't have a good reputation will have products that also have developed a lousy reputation. Examples are Raidmax (OEM: Andyson), Rasurbo (OEM: HEC/COMPUCASE), Cooler Master's Extreme Power Plus Series (OEM: AcBel Polytech, Seventeam) and Elite Power Series (OEM: Solytech, FSP Group), Thermaltake's TR2 and TR2 RX series with some models that can't deliver the power specified on their label (i.e. intentional mis-labelling).

AXP/XION, Azza, Kingwin, NOX, NZXT, Rosewill and Sentey are brands that use Super Flower to manufacture some or all of their models. Some of the models in high-end tiers for these brands, that have been tested, get good reputable reviews.

Purchasing a good power supply requires arming yourself with knowledge about the specific product by reading reputable test reviews, assuming the product has been reviewed.

The Cosomos II is an awesome case I was just drooling over a review of one yesterday. If you are looking at a 1000 watt or better unit I look no further than either the SeaSonic X-SERIES X-1050. The SeaSonic Platinum-1000 1000W 80 PLUS PLATINUM Certified Fully Modular is a little pricey but the Best 1000 watt PSU there is.
