[SOLVED] Need a micro USB connection within the case

It's more of a decoration thing. I have an acrylic standee that can light up if powered using battery or USB micro, that I want to put within my case. I want to know if there's a way to connect something to the motherboard so it gives power that ends in a male USB micro. Ideally it's something from the motherboard so the cabling doesn't get too messy, and if there's one directly from motherboard header to micro USB, even better.

My motherboard is B450 Tomahawk Max, which doesn't have 5-pin header that most USB extension that I found needed, and I don't know if I can just plug in the 4-pin to USB that I found to the empty fan header.

Should be plenty of 10-pin headers on the motherboard for USB. Those five pin adapters just plug into that, they aren't sending data, so you only need the power side. USB 2.0 headers are really 9-pin, so the 5-pin adapter goes across the 5 pins, not the four. That four pin you found would be for data capabilities (though not sure why it exists, might as well grab all the pins and make it a fully functional USB header.

Thanks for the information and the link! The 5-pin goes to the JUSB/USB 2.0 header I assume and not just any 5-pin? I'm also not sure why since the 9-pin is also widely available. Maybe just a Japan thing. Again, thanks!

USB 1.1/2.0 headers are 9-pin and are universal thus the name. That allows for power, and data transmission and a single key so that the cable can't be reversed. Plugging in the 5-pin connector to that you can certainly put it in backwards, make sure to identify pin 1 and 2 which are 5V.

Pin 1 will be left most on the 4-pins. Those 4 pin cables are designed to connect to pin 1 and 7 for 5V and Ground.

Pin 2 will be the left most of the 5-pins. You want to plug that five pin connector in there with the red wire at 5V (pin 2) and the black wire at ground (pin 10)
