need a new psu?

hello guys
my case is as follows
silver xdreamer case/w 350 powersupply(came with case)
my pc has the following components in it
a7n8x deluxe
barton 2500(i changed the multiplier to 12.5)
speeze falcon rock hs/f (cheapo one)
ati 9500 pro
liteon 52 cdrw
pioneer 16 dvd
4 x 80mm fans (coolermaster led ones)
2x80gig special edition hdds(7200 rpm)
with 2x pc3000 kinston hyper x ddr(256 modules)
my cpu temp is 38 celsius and jumps to around 43-45 under full load

my computer has been running fine but a good friend of mine stated that my psu is garbage and would cause me big problems soon
the only problem i have is windows lag while browsing through my computer
it will pause for 2 seconds before resuming whatever it was i was doing(ex..opening folders)
games run real smooth and everything else is perfect though

will a new bigger psu increase my system performance??
newegg has a special on an allied 400w for 33.99
it looks quite tempting but do i really need a new psu?
any advice at all appreciated

A good power supply from a name brand such as Antec, Fortron, Enermax, etc is always reccommended. With that said, if it was my PC, I'd leave it alone unless it was causing me problems.

Check if your voltage are within 5% of default and that they don't go up and down a lot. If they don't do that your PSU is fine.

ok this is what i get from asus probe under voltage monitor

12.672 +12v
4.838 +5v
3.36 +3.3v
1.712 v core


if u guys need additional information i can give it to ya

Looks good... only the 12V is a tad high, but if weverything is stable then your PSU is doing good.

i also have one more question


i built a new pc about a month ago
using the following

aopen ak77-8xn
xp1700
cheap crucial pc 2700
speeze hs/f

i have never got this machine to turn on at all
i made a post about this a while back
i have just recieved the rma of the mobo from newegg today

same results
the machine will simply not turn on
im using a raidmax case
however i think the problem lies in my psu
i pulled it off a old pc

its an antec pp-303x
is this psu not good enough for a athlon xp?
additional drives are a 80 gig wdd and liteon 52x burner

any help at all appreciated because this has been blowing my mind for the past month

Take the drive from your presently good system and try it on the other one.

That should tell you.

yes i was thinking about doing that BUT
i loomed all the wires/tubed everything
and that took me quite a while to get it the way it looks today

Well if you use a GeForce4 Ti or similair or newer videocard the PSU is probably insufficient.

I guess you also coontrolled for shorts and if every wire was connected OK.
