Heyo!

I've been looking into restricting certain devices in the network from accessing the Internet at a certain timeframe of the day, like a schedule!

I've thought about getting a new AP and connecting those devices there, and using some kind of scheduling feature turn it off and on accordingly. I've also thought about dividing my network into two variable subnets so I can control the subnet to which these devices will be in however I want, although I imagine i'd need a new router altogether for that, thats also a better way because im not limited to wifi devices only, it could be hard though because Sky HATES people using their own routers, but i'm open if you want to suggest a good router

Or maybe someone here can come up with a better idea?

Thank you, help is appreciated

My existing router is a piece of garbage Sky gave me, it barely has any nice features, I was lucky it had MAC filtering, it's a very basic device but for the record I have actually looked for such options, but to my surprise (not) they are not there, it lets me change my LAN IPv4 setup so I can subnet, but if the router itself does not offer policies and restrictions, can't really do much with subnets anyway so i'm out of options for that router. Thing is I heard they block connections with other routers if it's not their own but I heard there are ways around it, so im willing to get a new one that offers me the flexibility to do what I want

I suspect you can replace it but lets assume worst case that you can't.

You can just turn off the wifi radios and connect a better router to sky router. You can then force all the traffic through your new router pretend the sky router is just another router someplace on the internet.

Only other thing you might consider doing is put your new router in the DMZ of the sky router. You would only need that for some game consoles or port forwarding to work in many cases it does not matter.

Apperantly Sky now allows you to use a new router, they are still edgy about it as they wont give you support if you do that but I don't care, Sky uses MER encapsulation so I have to get a router that supports that, how many routers support it? im not sure, glad im over that obstacle though.
