I am awaiting components for a new high-end PC, replacing my existing PC which will be relegated to another room for general family use.

I currently have a dual ASUS PG279Q 27" IPS 1440p 144 Hz setup and plan to keep dual monitors on my new PC and a single monitor on the old PC. I will be using the new PC for a combination of gaming and productivity, probably a bit more focused on gaming but I will also spend some time in Word, Excel, coding, web browsing, etc.

That brings me to my question, which is how should I proceed with monitors for both PC's going forward? The options I am considering are:

A) Use the existing monitors for my new PC and buy a cheap-ish 1440p monitor to connect to the old PC. Obviously this is the cheapest solution, with the biggest downside being that I'm not really taking full advantage of my new PC when I'm maxing out at 1440p/144 Hz.

B) Buy a new pair of 1440p QD-OLED monitors (likely the 360 Hz XG27ACDNG) for the new PC and then keep one of the existing 1440p IPS monitors for the old PC. This is a "middle ground" option, where I think I would see a decent improvement groing from 144 Hz to 360 Hz and also from IPS to OLED, but I'm not sure if I would eventually regret not going with 4k displays. And even sticking with 1440p, it would still cost a fair amount for this option.

C) Buy a new pair of 4K QD-LED monitors and keep one of the existing 1440p IPS monitors for the old PC. This is the most premium and "future proof" option, but I would have a really hard time justifying the cost of 2 of these monitors (the ASUS PG27UCDM is $1200). If money was no object, I would likely do this, but that is not the case.

Note that you don't see any options here where I replace only a single monitor in the dual monitor setup. While that may be a very reasonable approach (for example, buy a single new 1440p QD-OLED to use as the primary monitor on the new PC, keeping one of my existing monitors as the secondary), I know it would bother me a lot to not have matching monitors next to each other on my desk. And obviously there would be differences in form factor, colors, brightness, etc. For that reason, I only listed options where the dual monitors would both be the same model.

So realistically, I think it comes down to option A versus B, and considering how much of an improvement I would actually see going from 1440p IPS/144 to 1440p QD-OLED/360? And is that enough to justify the expense of 2 new monitors, versus keeping what I have for the foreseeable future. What are people's thoughts on those options? Do you have any experience going from IPS to OLED and how big of a jump would that be at the same resolution?

A| You do end up with a cheap solution but chances are that you're probably stifling the option to upgrade your monitor(as you have an excuse to do so). What GPU will the new system have?

B| and C| Depending on your GPU, I'd decide on these options.

Where are you located? What is your budget for your monitor purchase(s)? Preferred site for purchase?

A 5090, which I understand may be wasted on anything less than a 4K monitor. I'm slowly coming around to the idea that maybe I can get away with a single 4K OLED (27" as I still think 32" would be too big for my desk) and then keep one of my existing 1440p monitors as a secondary. It wouldn't be ideal for me because sizes, colors, brightness, etc. would all be slightly different, but maybe I could get used to it and save myself some money by only having to buy a single monitor. Or, if I completely hate the mismatched monitors and just can't get used to it, then I can re-evaluate buying a second matching monitor at some point in the future.
