Hi friends, I would like to buy between any of the 3 models of GPU card such as HD 6870 or GTX 560 or GTX 560 Ti and Power consumption of these cards are somewhere from 150W to 175W. Not any overclocked\Direct CUII versions. My PC config is Pentium D 3GHz, 2 GB DDR2. I have checked my wattage using a kill-a-watt which shows my PC is consuming about 165W Max (at 100% CPU, I tested). So buying any of these cards sure will push power consumption to what a Max 400W?? , but ofcourse not more than that. A Coolmaster GX 450W series which has some 80P certified, good reviews won't it match my requirement?.

I am very strict on budget. I do not wish to prefer any other PSU brands. Because only coolermaster extreme series and GX series are quite available in my locality.

Though GX 450W PSU doesn't have 2 PCIe connector, but 550W sure has So, what if I use some 4 Pin Peripheral Connector to PCIe connector?. Is it recommendable?.

If not, then as a worst case, maximum PSU rating of 550W of this GX series is preferred. Coolmaster GX650W series costs almost half of the price of the GTX560 Ti in our country market. :pfff: Also I do not have any SLI in option, not now or never in the future, my Mobo doesn't support 2 PCIe slot.

but the wattage usage as per my calculation does not even hit above 400W. I may after a year upgrade my PC to Intel i5 CPU and more DDR3 RAM.

Please help me decide to choose affordable PSU with reference to below points.
1) No cooling fans
2) No extra chasis fans or anything
3) No SLI
4) No other hardware (like soundcard\PCI card)

Solution
it is also good
for quick comparision here
www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html

but you will need atleast i3-2100 to handle this card

waiting is a nice decision at this point, as new gpu and cpu are on their way

cpu price will drop only a little (due to lack of comptetion)
gpu are suffering comptetion so we can see a huge price down (around 25%)

Thanks dude. I plan no more than 2 months to wait as for as GPU. Where as I may wait more than 6 to 8 months in case of CPU. I've been out of play for about 4 months as of now. Integrated graphics sucks really and can't even play GTA SA or NFS udnerground versions properly!!!!

I still can't wait :-(

whatever the price that has to be cut down in 2 months, let it be. I'm buying any one of those, but the PSU I choose shall be 550W coolermaster GX series as I said.

How best is seasonic vs CoolerMaster ?

I see the price is lower, but I could not locate this brand and this similar product in local store here in chennai. Any idea?

Please check this link and let me know.

I am very favor of getting this. :pt1cable:
This has some positive reviews as well as being available. Also will this be okay for GTX 560 ti \HD 6870?

Also one more doubt is, that when incase I change my mind and SLI\crossfire, will this hold the leech?.

Thanks

yes it is a great psu (for single card config)

sli/crossfire of 560ti/6870 requires 550w/500w respectively at 12v rail (means min 46A on 12v rail)
so yes, it can survive sli now, but no overclocking, no extra fan and hard drive

(due to capacitor aging it may not survive after few years (1y-2y), for that you will need 700w-750w)
